I'm still not that good The first one being the Tutorial section over at PixelJoint. Good start there. And while you're learning or making a sprite, go learn and try some terms from this Dictionary. It's got terms and techniques you'll use constantly while spriting, so keep them under your belt when working. Especially since you'll just be directed there anytime you post a sprite, a head start could help.
