Not at all. I know how busy people get. Smile

Changed all links for the common npcs in this thread because I've found another NPC. It's a palette swap for the regular dwarf who shows you the Rabite.

Progress on Popoi:

Weapon Level 6 & 8 are left + some other tiny bits.

Ripped all weapon levels for the claw:

Glitchy sprites have pink lines below them, I will also try to rip as many regular sprites as I can/know.

RE: Secret of Mana - Ton - 08-31-2011

Hooooly crap, that's looking great!

RE: Secret of Mana - HandToeKnee - 08-31-2011

Hats off to you mate. Your making some lovely progress Tongue

RE: Secret of Mana - Tropicon - 08-31-2011

A few strange findings:
The heavy knock back only seems to go east/west.
Purim's bracelets change color as she runs or does other things.
There seems to be a negative color sparkle on the end of the initial magic casting.
Gnome gets an extra frame when Purim casts Earth Saber? It almost looked like Salamando got one too.

RE: Secret of Mana - Davy Jones - 08-31-2011

Thanks, next time it's the full sheet =)

You mean the animation where they fall down on the ground? It's also the same animation when you die, maybe the developers thougt it's saving memory space. Same thing with the backflip.

Interesting, I've never noticed that.

It's the same frame as the previous, but with a glitchy palette which can also change from time to time. The frame itself shows up randomly, so I didn't include it.

Really? I will try that, maybe it's also a glitchy one like Luna's 7th summon sprite. It's like the frame from the initial magic, just a duplicate with a palette swap at the end of the animation.

RE: Secret of Mana - Davy Jones - 08-31-2011

While I captured the frames for Popoi, I've discovered some new stuff for the misc. sheet and the ending. I've also edited some of the other sheets as well.

So you don't have to update anything, I will post everything in one post when I'm done with her.

http://www.flyingomelette.com/oddities/somunused.html Wrote:Of all of these unused sprites and animation frames, this one baffles me the most. You know those little yellow blobs that spring you up to higher ledges when you step on them? Apparently, a complete animation sequence of the little guy popping his head up and resetting it (complete with bugged-out eyes) was coded into the game, but left unused!

Myth busted, it's definitely used.

Posting another WIP because I don't trust my PC:

Hit pose & ghost palette, then I'm done. Not sure if there's an animation for bowing (sideview) in the game, if yes I have no idea where.

Edit: oh yeah, the jump sequence from the screen is also on my list.

RE: Secret of Mana - Tropicon - 09-01-2011

Looks like you were right about the sabers. Each elemental seems to be capable of an extra frame in their sabers pallet when casting their saber spells.

Wonderful work so far. Big Grin

RE: Secret of Mana - HandToeKnee - 09-01-2011

Only SEVEN more weapons to do Tongue

But seriously though, AWESOMENESS!!!

RE: Secret of Mana - Davy Jones - 09-01-2011

Thx, at least I've got ONE character done.

Time for a new round:

Main characters are the same jigsaw puzzle which you've already seen in Deathbringer's post, same thing goes for the majority of the enemies. At least the characters, common npcs, antagonists and the misc. stuff look decent to rip.

They don't have as many frames as in the SNES version, maybe the developers deleted every unneccessary stuff before they revamped the sprites.
