RE: Magical Sound Corner [MUSIC] - Garamonde - 04-22-2012

Heya guys, I have a question...
My best friend Perseus, AKA Ike (I'm sure a few of you know about him) is making a Disney fighting fan game that is like SSBB that he's making for fun, and he is making all the sprites including backgrounds (he has an idle animation for one character mostly done now, all of it looks beautiful), but he says he can't make good music, and wanted to know if anybody knew of anyone who can help him by composing music (remixes of various Disney music) that fits the description of "very good-quality VGM music, like Brawl, but a bit less complex".
He's very excited about this project of his (even if it is a little over-ambitious), and he came to me, so I wanted to help him by at least trying to ask for him.
He said if he just couldn't find anyone, then he would use the original Disney music (such as Zero to Hero from Hercules).
I'm afraid this will turn into a "no one will help unless they are paid" situation but I thought I'd give it a try since it was for my friend. Thanks in advance. Smile

EDIT: I realize that this may not be an ideal place to ask this and I apologize, but yeah, I wanted to be able to ask everyone at once, so I wasn't sure where else it would go.

I'm definitely not as good as some of the other musicians out there, but I try. This is actually coming from the game, since I don't like the available GBA soundfont much.

As somebody who's mildly interested in getting into making video game appropriate music, are things like Madtracker and Famitracker easy to get into, or balls-to-the-wall impossible for anyone who's never tried tracker programs like that before?

RE: Magical Sound Corner [MUSIC] - Crappy Blue Luigi - 05-08-2012

i think famitracker is intimidating at first. it's got a bit of a steep learning curve, but once you start getting used to the different effects and how to competently make instruments, you can make some gorgeous stuff.

give it a shot and stick with it for a while.

complementing what I wrote in the description, I am really glad that we could finish this movie.

It really doesn't look that much. But it is special for me. And maybe for others.

Thank you, friends who helped make this video. I know that I already said that before but I simply can't express how grateful I am. Finishing this small project felt so nice, it's like a burst of pure energy for me. Seeing this in motion really means a lot to me andmakes me hope that we'll complete much more projects in the future.

I admit that I love working on collabs and/or projects. I like seeing those small pieces form the final product, little by little. It is the proof that we can do anything we want, no matter how long it takes. No matter how many frames it needs. No matter how many notes it plays.

Thanks a lot.
