Is there a specific style that you want to shade in?

Start with getting a Megaman sprite and a Protoman sprite side-by-side. Use the dropper and right click the lightest grey on Protoman. Use the dropper again and left-click the lightest light-blue on Megaman. Bring out the eraser tool and hold down right-click. Then drag it over Megaman's light blue areas. The color will change. Do the same with the dark light-blue and darker grey.

You'll have successfully shaded a sprite. If you don't get what I'm saying, go to bobandgeorge.com for a better understanding and sprite tutorials.

Skyler, wouldn't that be more like... a recolor?

dylstew, I'd suggest just to go ahead trying something (I don't know any tuts out there). You have to imagine where shades are on your sprite, so you have to decide a lightsource first. Once you ahve decided where your light source should be (like at the top or the top left or whatever) try to imaging that your sprite is a 3D object and coulour the areas of that you think that they should be darker as less light reaches them... darker.

Look at you know, sprites - and learn from them.
