About the fur part, you might try to open it using some program that supports transparency, like Photoshop. It might still appears messed up, but not as badly. You can check my Chocobo

You can check my ChocoboThat's true. GIMP also supports transparency, I think. Its a more easyer way for people who dont have photoshop, since its free.
