that first post probably has the most thanks I've ever seen Very Sad

also add This (and page 12) to the what not to do section, or whatever. When people recolor and claim it's a custom.
also make sure a newbie, never, EVER says something like this:

welcome to the world's thanked post record: serious sprite discussion edition

also to add on to beagle's idea, perhaps a guideline among the lines of what is are the differences between a custom, a recolor, a simple edit, and a heavy edit could be necessary?

I think it'd make some sense because not all people do understand what they mean.

RE: New members, do NOT post without reading this first - triptych - 06-28-2010

honestly none of those seem like they'd be worth bringing up, seeing as how the last few threads where someone has made that mistake, it gets explained fairly quickly and no one ever gets mad or starts an entire shitstorm over a misunderstanding

as with the other suggestions i turned down though, if it turns into enough of a problem, i'd be happy to add it to the first post

RE: New members, do NOT post without reading this first - Baegal - 06-29-2010

yeah, that might have been that one guy. The only thing is he went for a whole page about simply "copying where the pixels go" instead of tracing.

- Don`t try to be a smartass. The chances are you`re going to get owned.
- Don`t use the excuse of being new and didn`t knew the rules (they are written all over the places) or don`t being able to speak English (if you can`t understand English, why you`re here in the first place?) to be rude or an idiot. If you`re a jerk, you`re going to be trolled.
- Don`t blame your lack of talent on MS Paint. We got some beautiful sprites here done 100% on Paint. It`s like they say: a bad artist blame their tools.

I gotta remember not to be a smartass 'cause im new xD

Well we don't know who you are and you are telling someone off for no reason.

Yes, that does mean we will ask who you are because you are storming in here acting like you know everyone and act as if you belong here without actually knowing anyone.

Also, don't act like a smartass if you are new, this goes for every area in this forum and not just the sprite area.

I'm actually being serious here.

How ironic.

Warned for being an arrogant ass. And for your first post, too. Really?
