Gerudo Guard (Minish Cap Style) (UPDATED, Now in Style, and Shaded) - nicktheslayer - 04-15-2010

Hi!

Im working on a Gerudo Guard, edited from the Guard Sprites in the Minish Cap.

The red parts of the clothes arent shaded, im trying to find an acceptable red, different from the hair color. Anything else thats wrong with it? Besides that? Id Appreciate any kind of crits or examples to help improve this, before moving on to other poses.

Current Sprite:

what the hell, why are you leaving all that blank space

make sprites in a small canvas and increase it when you make more poses

also make it more womanly; it's barely noticeable in the sprite

Sorry about the blank space, the Paint program on a mac doesnt change canvas size that easily, without cutting out the picture.

Also, how could it be more womanly?
I know women in the game have thin feet, but i cant get them right at all.

Are there any other ways to make her look thin, but keep her in style?
Oh, also, could someone help me with her stomach area, it doesnt have to be in the sprite, but id like it to be... I cant get that right either though.

Well, the hair on your current sprite doesn't look womanly (or anything like the reference). It looks more like a russian hat thingy than hair, altering the outline and shading should work with that, also, there is always a parting in hair, shade darker where the parting is.

to make the sprite thinner? It's all in the shading, shade the shades like an ident so that it gets darker towards the center of the stomach.

And, finally, for the chest:just colour the pinker bit on the body (on your current sprite) flesh colour. Simplezzz *meerkat noise*

Any better?

I cant tell thats her stomach, it just looks like a brown belt.

Also, i cant get the part in her hair right. Once thats right, ill add the tied part of her hair.

The hair looks worse now...

And your palette is awful.

RE: Gerudo Guard (Minish Cap Style) (UPDATED, Now in Style, and Shaded) - bones090 - 04-16-2010

yeah, that wasn't really what i was saying

RE: Gerudo Guard (Minish Cap Style) (UPDATED, Now in Style, and Shaded) - nicktheslayer - 04-16-2010

I dont know whats wrong with the hair.

I know theres something wrong, the shading is out of style, but i just cant get it right.

Also, the pallette is taking straight from the MC sprites, so im not sure what you mean by awful, there arent many colors i can find that work. Also, if youre referring to the red on the shoulders, thats the top of the shirt, i just havent found a nice red that doesnt match the hair yet, to change it.

Also, could somebody do the hair for me? or start it, because i just cant get this.

Gave him a more detailed pic so he can look for the features and such for his sprite hes making.

Yea, but thats fanart.
Also, thats not a normal gerudo guard, thats one of the warrior type girls, theres a difference.

Any Constructive Criticism?

Something that directly relates to the sprite?
