Upgrade to Visual Boy Advance. It's free and has a loooooot of very useful ripping functions: OAM Viewer (shows the tiles put together, sometimes as one complete frame of a sprite), Tile Viewer (for when you want to get right to the meat of a tile set visible on the screen), Map Viewer (for breaking down stage layouts or getting elements from one particular non-object layer), Layer Disabling (speaks for itself), Memory Viewer (for hacking out the player character so he doesn't get in the way of all your screenshots), Screen Capture (very useful once in a while), AVI Recording (exTREMEly useful in conjunction with a program like AnimationShop Pro), and cheats (for making the player character invincible so you don't die while waiting for a boss to use all his attacks).
