Project ROSE - JosephSeraph - 01-30-2010

[Copypasted from Way of the pixel... Waaaaay too sleepy to write something different from here. What else 'd I say, anyways?]

"So as of late I have been trying harder to attempt creating something. My head hurts. Anyways, recently i had this idea, as such of a character, wich is Rose, being the star of all the Project ROSE games, wich i plan on being very different from each other. I'll begin with a Platform game, as well as I'm already planning my next one (wich will, sadly, be on RPG Maker, since I have no spare time to learn hard languages, I have a part-time job, school, home to clean, 2 baby-sisters to take care of.... So don't kill me for using RPG maker... 2oo3.), I can't hold on, as I am anxious and I can't stop having Ideas.I've started creating the sprites for Project ROSE (Wich i might as well cal Storyteller ROSE, but it sounds awkward, tough it does have a much better meaning), and here they are. I have created them today, and I'll update here daily. I'm doing this for experience, so I can have something to show off, and have a chance at the Job Offer subforum (I want to show my parents that Pixel Art acctually IS worth something, especially with my uncle working at ubisoft... Actually, since my mother has really a bad concept of pixel art, this really doesn't help at all.)

Um, so, this is all I can tell about project ROSE and me, I guess. Here are the sprites for avail.

I'll update daily. If it's a big update, i'll bump, but if not... (I consider a big updare, a whole sheet with about 50+ frames of something, a major rehaul or concept towards a stage, etc.)

I have more, but i don't think they're presentable, as of yet. Thanks for the patience of reading, people, I hope you like my project. And yes, you can see I'm a little afraid ^^'"

Hmm, I like it. Kind of reminds me of some sprites I made a while back.

That aside, I think the checker-pattern (?) on her dress needs more contrast because right now it looks a little like messy shading instead of detail.

Looking good so far.

RE: Project ROSE - JarJar - 01-31-2010

The sprite is a little hard to read, colors blend too much, and too much colors at that. Don't try to add so much detail into something so small, you can't really tell she has a green/red checker outfit due to how cluttered it looks, readability is what counts.

RE: Project ROSE - JosephSeraph - 02-01-2010

Sorry for not replying yesterday, I had some family issues. Anyways, I understood the reability factor, about her dress... (By the way, it isn't a chessboard (I wrote cheeseboard , first >_<) pattern, it's just a stripe thing, i mean, like that:

It is a striped dress, changing the stripes to opposite colours at the breast part.
So, i don't know what to do to preserve this characteristic of the dress, wich I think that matters much to the characters. By making the colours more clashing, the dress woukl lose its characteristic appearence on my drawings (Wich absolutely charmed me)
So, it'd be really... Sad. Anyways, I'll keep messing up [edit: Messing up. o_O Oh well, those typos are so... Weird.] with it and post the results soon. Thanks for being so nice, people! And thanks for being so constructive! ^^

P.S: I'll never finish that mugshot. I absolutely a
hate it, but i don't have another example at the moment... I'll do another, more chibi-looking.

I missed you and your work :o

About those sprites... well, it's hard to understand what she's doing. You need more readability on them: I suggest making bigger sprites so you'll have more space to work.

Example: [Image: roses.png]
It's not the best example ever, but see how I could fit more details using a bit more space.

RE: Project ROSE - triptych - 02-01-2010

there's this thing called 2x zoom
or 3x zoom

or even 4x zoom
