Sonic XTreme Project - Shadowth117 - 12-09-2009

Well apparently the Sonic Xtreme source was released by someone recently. You can grab that here.

As you may or may not know this was a 3D Sonic game for the Sega Saturn that was canceled sometime during its development. Obviously this means it had a lot of unused content in it. This is useful to TSR because it has around 3000 sprites and textures in it.

The first thing you'll need to know if you're interested in helping out with this is that the texture and sprite files are in .pcx format. To convert them to something more common, you'll want to use a program like IrfanView.

Next you'll need to start converting stuff in the PCX folder of SONICBOOM.rar (A file found inside the source archive). There are 2 other archives there too with a PCX folder too, but they are just redundant textures and are missing most of them anyway.

I guess that's it really. Thanks in advance to anyone who chooses to help with this.

I heard about that. It sounded like a cool game.

I can't texture or sprite rip, so.......

RE: Sonic XTreme Project - D2S-Speed - 12-13-2009

I heard there was a Sonic game they never made for the Saturn. I wanted to try it out.

RE: Sonic XTreme Project - Cshad - 12-13-2009

Sonic XTreme was the game that was originally planned to have Sally Acorn in it right?

RE: Sonic XTreme Project - Solink - 12-13-2009

I ripped Feep
Is there only Sonic sprites?
I didn't see Eggman, Knuckles or Tails :[

I could have sworn I saw some on a random website before, but even if they exist they weren't included in this build of the game unfortunately.

Edit: Also I'm glad to see people showing support for this.

RE: Sonic XTreme Project - Vipershark - 12-14-2009

wait, is the game itself playable?
I'd like to see how far they actually got.

RE: Sonic XTreme Project - Lemonray - 12-14-2009

No unfortunately. The Saturn Executable was left out, but there's a level viewer in there so you can see what they might have been like. The only public playable Xtreme beta is this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4juoZc57RQ Too bad its more of a tech demo for the engine than an actual level.

Very much support this project, though I can't help much... Hey, I'll try though, I'll try getting something done over the next week in my spare time travelling to and from work on the trains.
