how about a Wrench that can build objects 50-75% faster but the downside will be that upgrading buildings is slower like 5-10 metal points per hit.

Super Shotgun - Fires more bullets (and thus doing more damage) than the normal Shotgun but Halfs the reserve ammo and maybe slower rate of fire.

An item that detects cloaked Spies and/or fully ubercharged Medics, a beeping sound will alert depending how close they are, however he has to have it out in order to use it this also replaces the Pistol.

the Scout already has the super shotgun

and the third one is just broken as heck

You've never done offensive engineering have you?

Because offensive engineer is way more fun than defensive engineer.
The problem with offensive engineering at this state is getting all your shit up before some bloody bloke runs at your gear and ruin the shit out of it, so who gives a shit if I can't upgrade it faster, I just want my stuff up faster.

Also the Super Shotgun wouldn't do that Knockback bullshit that the FaN can do.

Every class has a weakness that cannot be countered well, Items are made to counter that weakness with of course a setback, Pyros before the update had trouble dealing with Soldiers and Demos so they gave him the ability to airblast, Heavies always are in need of a Medic and Medics are not always there for them and thus he got a Sandvich, Snipers always get backstabed by Spies so they get Razorback and Jarate, Most people can see though spies' desguise and he want to stay cloaked forever standing there, Cloak and Dagger. Engineers always get their shit ruined by an Ubercharged player and he has no idea it was coming if their own team didn't warn them.

The Spy has enough to worry about trying to sneak through a base. Attacking an engy set-up is difficult enough as it is, and perfect balance is at play here: the better player will be the one to come out on top of a Spy/Engy scuffle (provided a rogue pyro/demoman doesn't come in to help the situation). The Engineer shouldn't get anything that would give him an advantage over the Spy.

If Valve should give the Engineer an item that makes him better against a certain class, it should be something geared against Demomen. Like something that shorts out explosives, giving the Demoman inability to spray and pray and actually give him a bigger challenge against a sentry set-up.



oh also guaranteed that the shotgun replacement will use metal reserves. calling it now.

But still he should get something against uberchaged Medic because that is the biggest threat to all Engineers

yeah

because the Spy vs Engineer is pretty much the most balanced class match-up in the game. Your only excuse to losing to a Spy one-on-one is because he was more competent than you were.

The Demoman, on the other hand, can singlehandedly crush a set-up by spamming grenades over a wall and without any room for the Engineer to fight back.

Well, this depends on the uber
for the most part, a sentry can outgun an uber if you stay back and heal it. The knockback should be enough to prevent a full-on rush.
provided, that is, that you're not around a corner and a Pyro can burn you and your sentry up without your sentry picking up the Pyro.

If it's an ubered demo, you're screwed either way.
