hue shift works on the basis that you move one color to the left or to the right in that wheel.

if you lack enough colorfulness(also known as saturation) to determine in wich part of the wheel you are, you cant switch to the left or the right. or at least, you'll do it but the effects would be barely visible.

i was staring at this pic, and then i focused my eyes far away instead of on the computer screen, and then the picture made 2 rings that were linked together
it was really cool
and then i looked away, and the wheel was still in my eyes, only with reverse colors
