I was under the impression that they don't have to necessarily start as the "baby" pokemon. Wobuffet, Roselia, and Mr. Mime all breed to the same pokemon respectively if they're not holding a certain item, so I always figured the baby pokemon were different "forms" achieved by other means. This could explain why they're discovered so much later.

Though not every pokemon does this (Pikachu, Magmar), so IDK Unsure

RE: POKEMON GEN 6 ANNOUNCED - water dog - 01-12-2013

Baby Pokemon bug me because all across the board baby exclusive moves are pretty weak. Other than that they don't really strengthen their evos and I think they really waste space in the dex. I mean they are cute but they don't really add anything to the game.

Don't get me wrong though, some of my favorites are baby Pokemon like Magby and Tyrogue.

Anyway, I fucking love the water starter. He's so cute and looks more like a tree frog to me than anything, which we don't have yet. I like Fennekin a lot as well, but Chespin bugs me for some reason. It looks like it has too much going on without making much sense. Maybe it is explained in his dex or something or is more fleshed out in it's evos, but I can't really even tell what it's supposed to be.

RE: POKEMON GEN 6 ANNOUNCED - Koopaul - 01-12-2013

While we are on the subject of baby Pokemon: they should get rid of those incense items. It's so stupid to have them hold an item to give birth to these babies.
I guess they do it because of canon reasons like Snorlax couldn't make Munchlax in the old games... But who the hell cares right?

I wouldn't care if a Pokemon somehow could make a baby it couldn't before. Would you? No one questions how Pokemon can learn moves they couldn't before, so why this?

RE: POKEMON GEN 6 ANNOUNCED - Ton - 01-12-2013

They change the rules all the time. Look at Milotic. I assure you they'll do something similar with Glaceon and Leafeon. I agree. Ditch the incenses and make things more comprehensive.

RE: POKEMON GEN 6 ANNOUNCED - Maxpphire - 01-13-2013

Chespin is based off of a Horse Chestnut so if that helps as to why it is designed like that, maybe you'll understand it better?

Ambipom, Mamoswine and Tangrowth all evolved using conditions which can be perfectly replicated in earlier games where they don't exist.

Not Ambipom.
Double Hit and Ambipom were introduced at the same time

My mistake. Point still stands, though.

RE: POKEMON GEN 6 ANNOUNCED - Koopaul - 01-13-2013

I'd like it if Eevee would just evolve into Leafeon with a Leaf Stone... because it makes sense.

Maybe have a lot those hold-items-and-trade evolutions only require you to just trade them now.

Just really streamline it.

RE: POKEMON GEN 6 ANNOUNCED - puggsoy - 01-14-2013

I've always found evolution through trading stupid, mostly because I never had anyone to trade with. I mean in B/W you can trade online, but even then you need to trust whoever you're trading with if you're planning on getting your evolved Pokemon back. (Not to mention my DS Lite has issues with connecting to the internet but that's something else.)

It's just never made any sense to me, I don't see the logic or point.

Then we'd need an ice stone.

Dusk/Dawn stone would be nice for Umbreon/Espeon too, but that system isn't broke, so...

RE: POKEMON GEN 6 ANNOUNCED - Vic - 01-14-2013

I might be alone with this, but I actually prefer Chespin over the other two starters design wise.
This might change with the evolutions, but for now I would probably go with that one instead of the other two.
