Ghost/Normal Pokemon would kick ass
The only Pokemon immune to both it's stabs and immune to weaknesses it would have without the other. Except Dark, which means it would be Pursuit weak >:

Lets be honest, there are a lot of pokemon that could have an evo, I respect that farfetch'd and probably delibird need one. But pinser isn't really on the top 10 list right now, same with heracross.
I'm still waiting for that Tarous evo that has been discussed about.

Yes he does. Heracross outclasses Pinsir in nearly every way possible, except in their ability. Mold Breaker is fucking wonderful, but the only move Pinsir has to take advantage of it (Earthquake) is something he doesn't even get STAB on. Nearly every other Bug Pokemon not grouped into a Butterfree esque evolutionary line is capable of being useful in a way that makes it stand out from it's counterpart. Well still, they are only catchable by the same way, sometimes it is a version exclusive (while Pinsir is in the other one) depending on the game. (d/p, r/b, fr/lg) Just because one has an evolution doesn't mean that they still are not counterparts.
Also Heracross is too strong to be a pinsir counterpart.

Pinsir and Heracross make better counterparts, there is a sort of Stag Beetle/Rhinoceros Beetle rivalry in Japan's culture and media. Meaning they would probably evolve together if it were to ever happen.

Also a 4x flying weakness isn't that big a deal. Heracross has better typing, better STAB moves, Guts, Pursuit, Night Slash and a neutrality to rock/Stealth Rock. Pinsir has gaping holes that I would like to see filled. But I'd rather have the ones mentioned above happen first.

Yes but you can find a Heracross in all the games (that it has been in, obviously not first gen) and thats not how a counterpart is made. (Counterparts tend to be version exclusive pokemon.)
Kinda like how Vulpix and Growlithe are counterparts, so will Scyther and Pinsir. Just because Japan's media says that two different type of beetles have rivalry with eachother, doesn't mean that in pokemon that they will be counterparts with eachother since one already had a counterpart with another pokemon since the beginning of the series.

Heracross and Pinsir also have near identical stats, and share several moves. They share the same speed stat, attack stat, and base stat total, meaning there defenses are just switched around a bit. Scyther and Pinsir don't share anything in common other than being version exclusives in gen1.
Also, does Tauros really need an evo >:? Maybe a move pool upgrade, likes Swords Dance or something, but his stats are really nice otherwise.
EDIT: Wait, Sycther also has a 500 bst, but Pinsir and Heracross are still way more similar.
