(It even looks like a manatee with the way you designed it, coincidentally enough) RE: Is this acceptable? (Mario 3-style enemies) - Doc von Schmeltwick - 04-05-2019 Potentially. Here's the full body for now.... ![]() Whatever I do, the lower end will get flippers, and since I plan to have Nep-Enuts be similar (but not entirely a recolor), the back ends would be visible on them, so I might consider giving them those "nail" thing on the bottom if I put the goofy hands on top. And yes, I know manatees have a singular back fin. XD As a matter of fact, I think I might do both. Have the nailed flippers right over the lava and a pair of goofy arms right above that. It'd go with the "freaky but silly" look it already has going for it. RE: Is this acceptable? (Mario 3-style enemies) - Doc von Schmeltwick - 04-05-2019 ![]() OK, I have.....something, at least. Supposed to be a Gargantua Blargg, but it could just as easily be a Sonic Underground character. I think the manatee fin idea worked pretty well, though. ![]() RE: Is this acceptable? (Mario 3-style enemies) - Doc von Schmeltwick - 10-20-2019 Been a long time since I bumped this, unfortunately. Mostly I've been concerned with schoolwork and ripping from the GBA HP games (currently working on a Troll with over 350 large sprites), but I've done some odds and ends here and there. Anyways, growth: ![]() My findings are that the current "Big Cheep Cheep" has been Boss Bass/Big Bertha/Yoshi's Story "Blurp" all along, while Cheep Chomp was conceptualized as a SMW Blurp variant back in SM64 (hence why Cheep Cheep was an orange Blurp in that game, and Cheep Chomp's JP name being closer to Blurp's). Anyways, I made Cheep Chomp to look like a combination of its SM64 and current designs to make it look more like Blurps and less like Cheeps, while Boss Bass/Big Bertha is a Big Cheep Cheep that can do this: ![]() RE: Is this acceptable? (Mario 3-style enemies) - Ton - 10-21-2019 These look great! But the shading on the lips in the center column is a bit odd. RE: Is this acceptable? RE: Is this acceptable? (Mario 3-style enemies) - Omega - 10-21-2019 That is a funny looking Blargg design RE: Is this acceptable? (Mario 3-style enemies) - Doc von Schmeltwick - 11-11-2019 Had a bit of inspiration. Supposed to represent Bookend from SM64, though its actions are more reminiscent of a flying book from the 6th generation console edition of the first three Harry Potter games. It's more translatable to 2d, anyways. There's also a "removing self from shelf in the background" one, but it's less impressive. RE: Is this acceptable? (Mario 3-style enemies) - SmithyGCN - 11-11-2019 Love the bookend! The page flip in the middle is a nice touch. RE: Is this acceptable? (Mario 3-style enemies) - Doc von Schmeltwick - 11-25-2019 ![]() Some more assorted fish of the Cheep variety. RE: Is this acceptable? (Mario 3-style enemies) - Ton - 11-25-2019 Looking good! I like the big fat one. RE: Is this acceptable? (Mario 3-style enemies) - Doc von Schmeltwick - 12-05-2019 So, I was going to fix the position of two of the spikes on top of the Porcupuffer, but... ![]() ...guess that skill growth never really stops XD RE: Is this acceptable? (Mario 3-style enemies) - SQUIDWORD15 - 12-06-2019 What enemy is this? RE: Is this acceptable? (Mario 3-style enemies) - Dolphman - 12-06-2019 A Koopa that was only seen in Mario's Time Machine. Not sure if it was supposed to be a Hammer Bro-type enemy or Boom Boom |
