RE: General Television Thread - Vipershark - 10-24-2011

I just finished season 2 of Breaking Bad.

i knew skyler would do what she did because i accidentally read a spoiler but i don't know if she finds out about Heisenberg

RE: General Television Thread - Altrez - 10-24-2011

I am really not enjoying the walking dead lately. It's like 80 percent melodrama, 10 percent stupid stuff, 10 percent actual zombie fighting. I hope it picks up.

RE: General Television Thread - Gwen - 10-25-2011

I'm on Season 2 of Breaking Bad, I hate Walter, love Jesse, and I wish Jesse iddin't get it so hard as much as he does.

That's the point.

The show is about life after the zombie apocalypse. It's not supposed to be a huge percentage of zombie fighting. That's why it's so much better than the other millions of zombie-related Things on the planet.

That being said, I haven't watched Walking Dead yet.

Give it a look and you'll see what I mean.

I know it's not based around mindless zombie action, but the sheer amount of melodrama, the formula of the show, and the stupid things that happen start to get to me.

he already knows what you mean
he stated as much when he said "thats the point"

i think im going to send devin an im saying "man that altrez guy has really bad taste" and then i'll link at your post and say "give it a look and you'll see what i mean"

RE: General Television Thread - Altrez - 10-25-2011

He hasn't seen the show. Maybe he would understand where I'm coming from better if he did, because the show does have a certain formula.

As it stands in the new season, I'm not really enjoying it.

I'm entitled to whatever taste I want to have. Tell Devin whatever you want to. I'll tell them too.

RE: General Television Thread - Vipershark - 10-27-2011

Just finished Breaking Bad S03E06.

I'm assuming Jesse is going to join Walt in his new project with Gus at some point soon.

Okay, Resident Zombie Nerd checking in here

Tyvon hit the nail right on the head. The entire point of The Walking Dead - both the comics and the television series - is about how people react and interact in a crisis situation. The zombies are basically just a backdrop- that's what most good horror does. You're not supposed to be scared because of the possibility of zombies, you're meant to be scared because it makes you wonder what the people you care about would do to you in a life-or-death situtation. Because that's real, and that's scary.

Complaining that The Walking Dead has too much melodrama and not enough zombie killing is like complaining that "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" had way too much stuff about the human condition and not enough android fights.

YES I AM VERY ANGRY ABOUT ZOMBIES.

doesn't matter, actually; he doesn't have to have seen it to understand its point, to understand its message; a thing is often bad not because of its point, but because of poor execution of that point. in the case of the walking dead, everything you're complaining about is successful execution of its point; the issue is that you simply don't like that.
that is not, in the least, a qualitative argument.

but you probably don't even know what that means lol

RE: General Television Thread - Gwen - 10-27-2011

I still need to watch The Walking Dead, but I do know that I love the comics.

RE: General Television Thread - Chutzpar - 10-27-2011

I fell out of reading the comic actually, and it's for pretty superficial reasons! I really, really loved Tony Moore's work on the first 6 issues, but there's a few niggling details in Charlie Adlard's work that were really annoying me. He's not a bad artist by any means, I just... don't like it as much. Nerdy nerdy nerd.

RE: General Television Thread - PrettyNier - 10-27-2011

i wont read watchmen because i cant stand the art style, so i'm not much better~

Look, I was just here to take a load off and talk off the top of my head about some show I watch from time to time. I wasn't trying to attack anything, or converse about the structure of debate.

I definitely didn't post here to have some pointless fight with you. I don't even know you. I thought your comics were pretty cool, but.

When it starts coming to things like the quote above, I draw the line.

So whatever your problem is, I'm not going to be trading insults. I'm here to talk casually about TV. You can talk with me, if you can do it like a grown up, or I can ignore you from here on out. Your choice.

RE: General Television Thread - Chutzpar - 10-27-2011

Throws hissyfit about people saying his criticism is unfair
tells others to grow up
yeah okay dude
