Also this, except I'd replace Blue Toad with the regular Toad (red spots and blue vest) and make the fourth character Toadette.

Plus, let any one of them be playable in single player mode.

Id make saints row 5 more akin to saints row 2

get rid of all that over the top stupid shit and bring back actual character development

In SR2, when you took out a rival gang, the story arced well and believably, and i cared about my character and situation

Finishing off Maero was rewarding, as revenge was finally dealt to him, it mattered to me

In 3 and 4, the character development is not there at all. My character is reduced to duke nukem style quips and blah voice acting

I don't care about any of the NPCS or enemies or anything; its all one-dimensional and flat, which is a shame
The gameplay really whittled down to a rinse-repeat formula very quickly

SR may not mean much to most, but SR2 was one of my favorite games from the last decade; its a shame the following entries got so much more flair and none of its substance

I would redo every single sprite from Megaman X6 because good god the sprites in that game are awful.

Oh that, and everything else about it, too (maybe except the music).

I would go back to all of the virtual console games and have them updated if at all possible. Allow for completely customized control input, add online multiplayer options (even if it just mirrors the offline multiplayer), and add leaderboards.

I mean, arcade games practically invented leaderboards. Why should Donkey Kong and Balloon Fight not have them?

Or just add a bunch of Mario characters. That would be the best bet. Have everyone's favorites.

I was trying to stay within the limits of the color scheme designators.

I mean, ideally there would be an SMB game with tons of characters to choose from (as long as they all had some kind of gimmick). If I were to make a new one, I'd go with Nabbit, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad(s), Rosalina, Stanley (he's sneakin' in no matter what you guys). Donkey Kong would be an ally like Yoshi is, with his abilities from Donkey Kong Country (rolling, climbing, hand-slams, carrying and busting heavy things), and FLUDD would be a power-up (with both the hover and spray modes).

But now I'm just inventing a game instead of changing it >.>;

Wario would be the villain, the game would take place on Delfino Island with basically the same plot as Super Mario Sunshine (Wario appears, builds tons of factories to exploit Delfino's natural resources, in effect creating mass amounts of pollution. The authorities mistake Wario for Mario and arrest the poor plumber yet again, and he's tasked with taking in Wario to clear his name). Castles (replaced by factories) are run by various WarioWare employees, Waluigi would be the half-way boss of World 8, and Wario is fought twice: the first time in his biker outfit as the first boss and then again as both his regular costume and using the game's Power-Ups. Visually the game would go for the tropical vibe of Sunshine instead of the dull, plastic vibe of NSMB.

I guess E. Gadd could be playable as well, but I think it would make more sense for him to run the item houses. Though I guess Piantas and Nokis could do that just as well.

So this isn't too far off topic: I'd have made Rosalina's spin-jump in 3D World usable while wearing suits, possibly by remapping it to a double jump when items were equipped that took priority of the "Action" button.

id like to change spirit tracks/phantom hourglass to be less repetitive with the whole "get maps from tower, go to dungeon, get important item. repeat" formula. and maybe a way to beat the annoying as hell phantoms permanently.

help, if there was only a way to ASM hack diddy and dixie into DKC1 (buddy carry mechanic and all)

i don't care if it breaks DKC and makes it too easy, it'd straight-up actually be fun and exploration wouldn't be a chore

RE: How would you change a game? - Paladin - 03-24-2014

With Fire Emblem: Awakening, I would change a lot.

First of all, remove reclassing and replace it with the 3 tier class system from Radiant Dawn. Reclassing is unnecessary and it adds infinite grinding which is a no-no.

I would also restrict supports. It was kinda nice being able to support with anyone, but some of the supports seemed really forced and written badly.
I would rather only have a select number of supports that are well-written.

And I would change the characters. Some are okay, but mostly they have really one dimensional personalities and they need polish. Some characters really need work.
Chrom is okay, but since he is a main character he should be much better character-wise than he is.
Also, the avatar is a really boring character. I would either rework his/her personality or remove him/her completely.

Concerning difficulty, I would rename them to easy, normal and hard so the names are so confusing.
Also, I would remove lunatic+ and change lunatic so it's actually difficult in a good way.

Finally, I would change the story to be less cliché, paced better and have better twists. The Walhart story arc is completely unnecessary.

Sorry about the long post. And I didn't proofread btw.
