I haven't played Dig Dug in years, so I don't remember what his sprite looked like that well

I honestly don't see the issues of adding a hat or sword or doing whatever changes as long as one doesn't completely void what they made. That's what always happens in this kind of grow game, I thought? It's not like the others with assigned cubicles.

I agree with Previous. If no-one is allowed to touch other's work, it makes it very difficult to make a really good, growing work. for example, the flooring has been altered many times, but no-one's complaining about that. The principle is more or less the same.
