RE: volo's submissions (FF IV Complete Collection) - Davy Jones - 05-03-2012

Wow, nice =D

Do you plan to rip the battle backgrounds?

RE: volo's submissions (FF IV Complete Collection) - volo - 05-03-2012

Quote:Are those all of the overworld sprites? For some reason I thought they had more.

Yeah, you're right! Tongue when I can I update them!
However, I put the weapons to show as they would if they had the weapons in hand!

This is really difficult, because I rip them through screenshots metod, but I'll see if I can do something Wink

RE: volo's submissions (FF IV Complete Collection) - Davy Jones - 05-03-2012

You can rip FF1&2 PSP with tools, maybe FFIV works the same way:
http://www.spriters-resource.com/community/showthread.php?tid=19043
As far as I can remember, ff12div ver0.1 extracts the rippable files from the rom. Gim files can be extracted with gim2png, the other tools seem to be useless.
The rest is about ACG (sprite/background) and ACL (palette) files. If you can't find ACL, it's usually the full description "Auto Correct List files". To work with these kind of files, you need TiledGGD. Install Net framework before you use it, otherwise it will not work.

Next steps:
(12-24-2011, 10:22 AM)Davy Jones Wrote: Installed Framework and did this:
Deathbringer Wrote:1. Ctrl+T, then 16 x 16
2. Image -> Mode -> Tiled
3. Left/Right arrow keys changes width, Up/Down arrow keys changes height
4. Panel Size is 512x304
5. B changes Graphics Format, you want 8 bits/pixel
6. Ctrl+Z changes Graphics Skip Size, Page Up/Page Down does the actual skipping. Change it to 4 bytes and you'll only need to press Page Down 4 times

First I had that:

Then I went to Palette - Go to offset - Hexadecimal, 8, Absolute and got this:

Looks perfect now =)
Tried it with a second background, works wonderful. Expect a full sheet of the battle backgrounds in the future, special thanks to Deathbringer for the tutorial and the patience =D

RE: volo's submissions (FF IV Complete Collection) - volo - 05-04-2012

wow! Thanks Davy Jones! Now i'll try it!

EDIT: I tried, but it gives me an error. Probably the size of the file...
For now I go ahead with the screenshot metod.

EDIT2: I have arranged Ceodore's battle sprites without weapons and added Hooded Man's sprites! Smile

RE: volo's submissions (FF IV Complete Collection) - volo - 05-05-2012

UPDATE! Rydia and Luca added!!

RE: volo's submissions (FF IV Complete Collection) - Davy Jones - 05-05-2012

yeah, the tool gave me errors too because I have no idea how big the character sets are.

But can you try the battle backgrounds? I'm sure they have a "BG" at the beginning of the file description. The size has to be same as in FF1&2, I don't think they changed it. If you don't intend to do them, can you send me the files (ACG & ACL) in a zip per www.min.us?

RE: volo's submissions (FF IV Complete Collection) - Ton - 05-05-2012

Got 'em!

RE: volo's submissions (FF IV Complete Collection) - volo - 05-06-2012

Davy Jones don't worry! Wink I think I've found a way to rip the backgrounds!
However, the problem is that I was not able to extract the ACG and ACL from the rom because everything I tried always gave me an error!

Thanks Tonberry! Smile

EDIT: Ok I'll rip this:
but, asyou can see, it is smaller of those from FF1 & FF2. And then I think it is not right.

RE: volo's submissions (FF IV Complete Collection) - Davy Jones - 05-06-2012

I see:
http://www.fantasyanime.com/finalfantasy/ff/images/FinalFantasyPSP2_17.jpg
http://www.spriters-resource.com/other_systems/ff2psp/sheet/43692

The game can't show you everything, which means every side on the game screen is cut off.

What a pity =/

RE: volo's submissions (FF IV Complete Collection) - volo - 05-07-2012

Yeah... However, for now I'll focus on the various characters, later I'll see what I can do for the backgrounds!
Meanwhile, I added Yang and Ursula's sprites and added to her chara sprite a missing pose! Wink

RE: volo's submissions (FF IV Complete Collection) - Ton - 05-07-2012

All up! And you finished my favorite character in the game. Big Grin

RE: volo's submissions (FF IV Complete Collection) - volo - 05-07-2012

Yang or Usrula? I think Yang is the best character in the game!

RE: volo's submissions (FF IV Complete Collection) - Ton - 05-07-2012

I'm an Ursula fan, myself. Smile

RE: volo's submissions (FF IV Complete Collection) - volo - 05-07-2012

Well, I do not think I need to say which of the girls I prefer Tongue

RE: volo's submissions (FF IV Complete Collection) - Ton - 05-07-2012

Haha, I figured. Yeah, my final team ended up being Golbez, Porom, Kain, Ursula, and Edge.
