RE: [DRAWINGS] Doodles and Finished Pieces 2.0 - ~Axis~ - 03-11-2015 This stuff is quite good actually. I dont know about if its the style or anything but the anatomy on the characters could use improvements on the comic book art especially with The Pummler. His right thigh isnt properly aligned with his knee and lower leg[the latter looks higher up than the former]. His shoulder muscles are drawn incorrectly too, same thing with them pectorals. They seem to stretch all the way to his back. Try practicing anatomy a bit more. The other stuff looks great also. Dude post more of this stuff! It's real cool to look at! I haven't messed around with muscle structure that much when it comes to bulky characters. RE: [DRAWINGS] Doodles and Finished Pieces 2.0 - EasterlyArt - 03-13-2015 Skipped lunch today to color this. RE: [DRAWINGS] Doodles and Finished Pieces 2.0 - Chris2Balls [:B] - 03-15-2015 The face's proportions work, it feels like a face. Her head's size in comparison to her shoulders and arms makes it look small? Either way, you've visibly improved, keep at it! RE: [DRAWINGS] Doodles and Finished Pieces 2.0 - Kosheh - 03-16-2015 so, uh, after sitting in a chair for about two hours, gripping my sketchbook, sweating bullets and then closing the sketchbook several times, I finally managed to sit down and start drawing. Holy shit. I'm also embarassed to be posting this, really (I feel like I'm posting a picture of my cock on the internet right now) since I literally haven't drawn in ten years and it still looks like the shitty anime garbage I drew years ago. Nonetheless, I'm gathering up all my dragon balls and posting it, so I can look back a few months from now after I've been drawing again and think to myself how well I've improved. I'm looking to get better - and I don't want to sound like a pompous dickhole, but I know my problems already (and I'll get to that later) I'm not sure which direction I wanna head yet. Do I want to pursue life-art (like what Zadaben does) or cartooning (like Sketchasaurus) So, this is what happens when I try and actually draw a cartoony person. No tracing, no references. Freehand, off the top of my head.
It's not any character in particular, but I'll probably revisit this character and improve her appearance several times. Note to self: Don't draw stupid fucking anime hair I'm actually super mad at myself because I fucked up the eyes massively. They're not supposed to look anime, but what the fuck kosheh now look what you've done
also yeah, I was totally gonna add a collarbone, but I felt like it was kinda tacky. Also, I'm gonna be honest, I love whenever I draw boobs 'cos I always look at them and I'm like "whew, they don't look huge and tacky as shit" So yeah, here's my problems, which I'm gonna try to fix TONIGHT:
EDIT: I actually have like zero-to-no issue drawing not-human characters (like, I could probably draw half of your refs) I don't want to draw fanart all my life though but I suppose I could give it a shot if you guys are curious how my sanics look RE: [DRAWINGS] Doodles and Finished Pieces 2.0 - Sketchasaurus - 03-16-2015 I decided to get out a bunch of my old prismacolor art markers yesterday and drew a few things with them for the first time in 6 years. I still prefer the precision of digital art, but it was really fun to use them again after all this time. RE: [DRAWINGS] Doodles and Finished Pieces 2.0 - Lexou Duck - 03-16-2015 yeah so i have this art class and this is a project i did i spent a long ass time on this shit (it was based on Crivelli's Annonciation as per project rules RE: [DRAWINGS] Doodles and Finished Pieces 2.0 - ~Axis~ - 03-16-2015 Kosheh Wrote:<Insert wall of text here> To be honest, that is a decent drawing but when you draw, you gotta be sure where you wanna be headed. I personally found it best for me to stick with the anime style of drawing because I dislike drawing stuff super-real and dont like the derformity that the typical cartoon style has. I found that anime/manga style art is right in the middle. Dont be afraid to use references, use them to actually study how it was drawn the way it was and why. It'll help with anatomy and drawing is an aquired skilled anyway (if you saw how badly i used to suck and compare it to how I draw now, you'd just be stunned). One key thing I learned is that DO NOT BE AFRAID TO SUCK. IT IS BY SUCKING THAT YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU SUCK AT AND CAN MAKE THE SUCKY PARTS NOT SUCK. quit being afraid of doodling random stuff and just scribble. Oh yeah, looking at some cool art or a photo can help with your creativity/imagination. Just look at the art and "draw" it your mind. No c+c atm though so sorry. RE: [DRAWINGS] Doodles and Finished Pieces 2.0 - Kosheh - 03-18-2015 I took a little hiatus from drawing yesterday. I need like, more hours in a day or something to get Real Serious about drawing. Geez laweez. I'm starting to think I actually draw just fine as-is (the picture from before is me trying to force myself to draw a style I'm not really used to drawing) I tend to doodle more and use single lines - and the results come out pretty decent. I'm partly inclined to focus less on drawing and actually improving FOR NOW and instead opt on learning how to ink, color and shade decently in Photoshop 'cos that seems like REALLY what brings a piece together. Or do I want to draw people? Thus comes my internal struggle I'm facing here. ): I'm leaning more towards cartooning-ish, though honestly I feel like to get remotely decent I've got to like, become completely antisocial, board myself up in a room and draw until a revelation comes to me "Kosheh, you're not shit, you need to just chaaange your perceptionnnnnn on this shitty eaaaaaaaaarttttth... OoOoo I'm a ghostie" etc. RE: [DRAWINGS] Doodles and Finished Pieces 2.0 - recme - 03-18-2015 if you want to draw a little more cartoon-ish, then simplify your style a bit more. cartoons are generally simple and easy to draw, so if you put too much work on a drawing, (like, drawing certain shapes and stuff) then youre doing it incorrectly RE: [DRAWINGS] Doodles and Finished Pieces 2.0 - Sketchasaurus - 03-18-2015 (03-18-2015, 10:21 AM)Kosheh Wrote: I feel like to get remotely decent I've got to like, become completely antisocial, board myself up in a room and draw until a revelation comes to me That sounds about right at least in my case. Though a huge portion of it is learning how to be confident in what you're drawing. I've started to take on a mantra of sorts to the effect of "1000 crap drawings go into making 1 good drawing" It's pretty unrealistic for anyone to expect everything they scribble down to turn out golden; Perfectionism paralyzes, pretty much. While good inking and coloring do often bump a piece up to the next level, a good foundation on which to ink and color is pretty important, because if you don't have a good drawing to ink and color, you end up with stuff like this. RE: [DRAWINGS] Doodles and Finished Pieces 2.0 - recme - 03-18-2015 i wanted to dabble on ms paint after a long time. looks like i still got it with this mouse RE: [DRAWINGS] Doodles and Finished Pieces 2.0 - Garamonde - 03-18-2015 Your style reminds me of Mit's, honestly... ...You sorta look like Mit, too, wat are you two related and didn't tell us, recolorme.
