Well, the storyline doesn't say she's a pacifist - but she only fights when in danger (which is in most of the game)
but she's mostly the dainty "I don't fight ;___;" type

Since Sothe is a theif, maybe give him a sort of item-stealing move. Either his standard B or maybe his runnign attack. Like He runs forards and moves his hands in a quick grabbing motion. if he hits the opponent it does minimal damage, but if they are holding an item (beam sword, Pokeball, ect.), Sothe takes it and holds it instead. Obviously doesn't work if he's already holding an item, but reveryone's running attack changes with an item anyway so it works. Maybe this concept could work with his grab. If he grabs you then throws you, he takes whatever you're holding. And whatever way it is, it does very little damage if they aren't holding anything.

But I like the idea of Lyn because she was an AT in Brawl. She has a background in the Smash games beyond being just a trophy or sticker. What was one of the main reason we brought back Pichu over the hundreds of other possible pokemon we could have used? Because he was in Melee. I know he was playable and Lyn wasn't, but surely being an AT at least proves that she works well in Smash.

RE: Fire Emblem character suggestions - Ton - 09-06-2009

No, it proves that they couldn't think of a whole moveset.

RE: Fire Emblem character suggestions - Wes - 09-06-2009

A moveset is easy to think of. They made up something for ROB, they can make up something for anything.

RE: Fire Emblem character suggestions - Ton - 09-06-2009

I'd rather go with a more unique weapon than another sword.

RE: Fire Emblem character suggestions - Angelglory - 09-06-2009

Wasn't Sothe originally going to be an AT in Brawl or something? Anyway, I've never played Radiant Dawn, but I'd rather play as Sothe either way over a pacifist even if the pacifist is female.

RE: Fire Emblem character suggestions - killme - 09-06-2009

We could always put in another character if we can't think of a FE character...

RE: Fire Emblem character suggestions - Kosheh - 09-06-2009

We can also state the obvious if need be. :V

RE: Fire Emblem character suggestions - Zabi - 09-07-2009

There are only 4 Lords in Fire Emblem who don't use a sword:
- Hector from FE 6 uses an axe
- Ephraim from FE 7 uses a lance
- Micaiah and Sothe
I think the first two are pretty much unknown to most people, so I would go with either Micaiah or Sothe.
I think you could probably find a moveset for Micaiah, because she can do a bit more than light-magic and sacrifcing, for example attacking with a staff (she gets one in the later chapters) or perhaps blinding people (like seen in a cutscene). Her sacrificing would heal her for a bit (maybe 10%), but weaken her damage, knockback, whatever for a while, that's also some sort of sacrifice.

But I'm really supporting Sothe now. I was leaning towards Micaiah, but I completely forgot about her pacifist attitude. I haven't played FE10 for a while.
Sothe's neutral B could possibly be throwing some dagger at his opponent, perhaps with some chance on a critical hit. I think Down B shouldn't be another counter, some thief move should be more fitting.

Blinding people and hurt/heal gimmick can become really broken or really sucky.
Actually, make that really sucky.

Blinding is...going to what in Smash? >_>
The only two blind statuses I know of is
1) JUS' blinding status. The screen turns black and only your character is visible.

How's that going to work in multiplayer?

2) Deku Nut.
A spammable Deku Nut.
joy

As for hurt/heal gimmick, you're giving her autohealing at the expense of knockback/damage. Most players will probably resort to a defensive camping game - go on offensive, move to other part of stage, use Sacrifice, dodge/turtle until Sacrifice's effect wears off, repeat. :I

As for the Down-B, it just...feels like FE to have a counter lol.
I'd personally have the counter-attack, but if the opponent connects Sothe knocks the opponent back, does little damage, and gets an item.

Question is, what if items aren't on :/

RE: Fire Emblem character suggestions - Ark Kuvis - 09-07-2009

Yo, guys.

Anyone think of an original moveset for Roy afterward? Or maybe it was a bad idea to place him in this game hm?

RE: Fire Emblem character suggestions - Ton - 09-07-2009

The heal could work if it was something like Mr. G&W's bucket.

Well I see your points there... I have no idea what to do about the healing move, but the blinding itself doesn't seem that broken to me. Was Mewtwo's stun like a spammable deku nut? Surely not. You would just have to limit some attributes like the range or speed of the attack.

As for Sothe, I think that sort of counter would be okay, it's at least different from Marth's, Ike's, and Roy's counter (which are basically damage multiplications). You can annoy Diddys, Snakes, Links, etc. with it.

Ton: That kind of reminds me of Ness' / Lucas' Down Special. They absorb projectiles (like the bucket) and heal themselves. But the main idea is quite good. It would prevent the player from some lame "running and healing" gameplay.

RE: Fire Emblem character suggestions - Kosheh - 09-07-2009

I had an awesome moveset written up for Sothe - with my friend...helping. Actually no it's mostly him lol

I'll post it later when i fix it up

RE: Fire Emblem character suggestions - Koopaul - 09-07-2009

You know "how and if a character fights" is on the bottom of list of reasons for character inclusion.
"How important is this character" is on the top.

Even though Lyn is another sword user she is the next logical character.

You see being on the roster should be an honor. It says "I am important" or "This series is important"

Don't consider a less important character because of the way they fight. That's like putting Biff Atlas in before Peach because he seems like a better fighter. Its a dumb way to do things. (and yes someone HAS made that suggestion)
