RE: Banjo's future is doomed to vehicles - Alpha Six - 02-11-2009

and this is the rotation it will go in;

New fans either love the new formula or hate it
Old fans completely hate it

in the end, the number of new fans < number of fans/potential fans lost

RE: Banjo's future is doomed to vehicles - Koopaul - 02-11-2009

I just think they should try something more suiting for Banjo and Kazooie. It makes no sense to put them in there.

To use Batman as an example like Zeemort did. It would be like having Batman ride a unicorn in Lolipop Land. You gotta keep it within some boundaries of what makes sense for that character. I mean Batman made some dramatic changes all over the place, but he was still the gadget wielding defender of Gotham, everytime.

It... really isn't Koopaul.

Until they give him a gun or have him running around in new york city they haven't really done much to change the theme of the game.

Also, tbh, old fans are gonna hate anything that deviates at all from the original, because fans are retarded. Most of you have decided that you're going to hate it before you've even played the damn thing.

RE: Banjo's future is doomed to vehicles - Alpha Six - 02-11-2009

i think you meant to say "old fans," new fans don't know anything about the original, that's why they're "new" fans

Woops! Yeah, that's what I meant. Brainfarted. :c

You didn't play the original games, shut up. You can't just say we should ignore what they've done and deal with it, this is a giant revival of a franchise spent 8 years sleeping with maybe two spin offs on the side hardly worth mentioning. When a developer announces a big franchise appreciated by many for what it's about, they expect what they're putting their money into. The change would have been better suited for a spin off then anything. If they gave us Banjo-Threeie/the platformer everyone wanted, Nuts and Bolts would have been better received if it came afterwards.

RE: Banjo's future is doomed to vehicles - Alpha Six - 02-11-2009

gotta go with OSM on this one

RE: Banjo's future is doomed to vehicles - OSM - 02-11-2009

I don't hate Rare for what they've done, but I feel that the drastic change they wanted would have been better spent on a completely new IP rather then slapping Banjo-Kazooie onto it. I think the vehicles have potential, just kick Banjo out of the fucking driver's seat, please. I want to play a real fucking Banjo game I'm used to next time. If they find a way to combine the vehicles with actual platforming and exploring, I'll bite, but I don't think it can be done without having people complain about having more then the other.

RE: Banjo's future is doomed to vehicles - Chutzpar - 02-12-2009

and here is the point i'm making

BOO BOO BOO IT'S NOT THE GAME I USED TO PLAY BOO BOO BOO I'M GOING TO SWEAR ON THE INTERNET ABOUT IT THIS IS AN OUTRAAAAAAGE
what does it fucking matter. You're giving yourself an ulcer over a childrens game.
Get laid, seriously.

If you don't like the sound of the game, don't buy it. You're not losing out on anything you obsessive little fucktard.

RE: Banjo's future is doomed to vehicles - Alpha Six - 02-12-2009

zeemort everybody gets mad about anything when its original formula is fucked with. it's human nature.
i'm sure you'd probably lose your mind if NIN dropped industrial for a more emo flavor or some bullshit like that

it's something we used to enjoy and something we still enjoy, and it's being drastically changed, so of course we're going to get mad about it. it doesn't matter what it is

RE: Banjo's future is doomed to vehicles - Chutzpar - 02-12-2009

NIN is a bad example since it's rare for them to sound at all the same from one album to the next
hrr

but uh, in principle
I wouldn't care really
because I still have the old albums that I do enjoy even if I'm not gonna be into the hypothetical new emo ones.

Alright see Linkin Park, right?
I loved the shit out of the first album. And the second one. The third came out and I hated it since they just decided they were going to unabashedly rip off better bands and bandwagon hop like nobody's business. So I didn't buy it. And I don't listen to it. And I still occasionally listen to the old ones with HAPPY NOSTALGIA and ignore the existence of the new one
I didn't give myself a migraine screeching at people on the internet because OMG I HAVE BEEN BETRAAAAAYED.

RE: Banjo's future is doomed to vehicles - Alpha Six - 02-12-2009

you also have to remember that OSM has a history of overemoting so the nerd rage probably isn't the point lol

Oh hi welcome to a message board, we also discuss games here, fancy that shit huh?

You never even played the games so why the fuck are you even arguing with me over this? Plus you're arguing on a message centered around sprites and video games for fucks sake. Aren't you a clever little genius? Go fuck off somewhere else, please. Keep your girly girl "ACT MOAR MANLY" shit somewhere else.

Man, I wish my X-Box didn't get Red Ringed. Otherwise I would be playing Banjo: Nuts and Bolts. Just got it back from my friend yesterday. He went out and bought his own copy of it, after enjoying playing mine.

Actually, the only people who I know in real life who DON'T like Banjo: Nuts and Bolts are people who haven't actually played it, and judge it out of pure nostalgia.

Wow, Chill out much?

I'm a HUGE Banjo fan, and quite honestly I liked Nuts & Bolts. It's not what I expected, and I may be pretty biased thanks to a fondness for vehicle creations and racing, but I'll take it in what's hopefully the interim between Tooie and another, more traditional game. I think the future's a bit too unclear to ready the pitchforks.

Not really, considering Banjo's had plenty of prior vehicle experience. It just wasn't the main focus as far as the main series went.
