RE: Sazh's "pixel art" - JazzySpazGlobal - 08-10-2011 Thanks, also im having some help with this. RE: Sazh's "pixel art" - JazzySpazGlobal - 02-04-2013 I know bumping is not allowed but I figured since I was reviving this topic to start posting new work then it'd be okay. I added some more recent stages and sprites. I'm still learning and I've been focusing more on programming since I was last here. RE: Sazh's "pixel art" - Novally - 02-04-2013 Your shading is lacking a lot. There are some instances of pillow shading and some of the objects light source doesn't agree with the other. I see you tried dithering. you kind of missed the whole point of it in some of the sprites. Here is a tutorial for dithering: http://www.furcadia.pixelovely.com/dithertut.html http://shonegold.deviantart.com/art/Dith...s-65642027 http://pixel.oceansdream.net/?p=406 (pardon me if any of the links are broken) Here is a nice archive of sprite tutorials that has helped me. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/586616/Flash%20Resources/Sprite%20Tutorials%20Folder/SpriteTutorials.html And some simple pointers to help your pixel art. http://www.spriters-resource.com/community/showthread.php?tid=13868 I would give more advice but I'm getting tired so I will be back with more specific examples of your mistakes. RE: Sazh's "pixel art" - JazzySpazGlobal - 02-04-2013 Thanks, the help is appreciated. RE: Sazh's "pixel art" - JazzySpazGlobal - 02-10-2013 I put everything into link form so you won't have to scroll down so much and I've added something new(The first link). It's just pixels man.. RE: Sazh's "pixel art" - Novally - 02-10-2013 Seriously please use [img] tags to post a static image of the image you're linking. IF you're worried about us scrolling too much, put useless/old work in spoilers. [spoiler]. My comments still apply. RE: Sazh's "pixel art" - JazzySpazGlobal - 02-16-2013 Update: I've been looking for a new style of sprite for a game I am planning and I can't seem to find one that's right. I'm exploring different styles as of now and I am currently practicing stuff like this: RE: Sazh's "pixel art" - JazzySpazGlobal - 02-16-2013 Update: I have decided to stick to this style to try and "perfect" it. RE: Sazh's "pixel art" - Gors - 02-18-2013 This looks better than the piccolo sprite you did years ago, so I see you improved a little. Though, you need to optimize pixel placement in order to avoid jaggies, and the anatomy in the sword holding frame is all weird. I'll be sure to give you tips when I have time. RE: Sazh's "pixel art" - Novally - 02-18-2013 Color values are a bit odd. The shaping in some parts of the sprite look really odd too. The guy is looking a bit top heavy, but could be intentional. The weapon holding sprite could use a lot of work. That's not how it should look when someone is pulling out a weapon from a sheath. It isn't really anatomically correct. |
