the biggest problem with paying for live is that not ony are you paying for it, but you still also have ads pushed on you

note how when you turn on your xbox, it doesn't go to the my xbox tab; it goes directly to the ads. if you double tap A when the dashboard boots, you'll be on the menu to buy whatever thing is there

live is set up explicitly to maximize profits for microsoft. I wouldn't mind the ads if live were free, but live offers an ad-infested, gimped service.

There could be so much more done with it. Not to mention that there's a good chance they could run their servers off the ad revenue alone.

I don't actively complain about it, but it really is bullshit when you think about it.

This is one of the reasons why I sold my 360.

And lets be honest, if MS really wanted to take advantage of the situation as a whole then they should just get rid of the gold and silver memberships entirely and make LIVE entirely free. They already get enough cash from selling the stupid things already.

Even if they do that it won't cure the plague of problems the 360 has had for years.

... How the FUCK can a lawsuit solve anything. Yes, Sony fucked up, but now people are just being retarded.

I was thinking the exact same thing until I realized it's more about the almighty dollar more than anything else. Since some people claim "oh, someone has to be responsible for ______"

Well considering a lot of people could potentially have their credit card info stolen I think its somewhat understandable that they'd be very upset. I don't know about suing them, but that kinda thing isn't generally something that's just shrugged off.

To be honest, I highly doubt that ANY money was stolen. Wouldn't they be found in a hot sec if credit card information was used? It doesn't make sense, people just want some extra cash, they don't even have their stories straight.

I think its more the principle of the whole thing. Even if they weren't actually hurt in any way in the end, this had the potential to end VERY bad.

RE: Stay Classy Microsoft. - Omegajak - 04-29-2011

Agreed. Even without a suit. I want something for compensation throw me a 100$ voucher and I'll call it even, but no one has the right to say "Oh it's videogames your dumb enough to put your card info up, so serves your right." That doesn't fly in ANY business deal. If you want my continued patronage throw me a bone as to why your not a total fuck up.

In fact speaking of which I gotta go to work right now but someone clarify the downtime in 2008 on Xbox Live did any of you get anything back for the MONEY THAT YOU WASTED NOT BEING ABLE TO PLAY ONLINE back? I capsed cause that's the bottom line, you payed for it so you DAMN WELL have gotten SOMETHING.

RE: Stay Classy Microsoft. - GaryCXJk - 04-29-2011

On one hand I can understand people are outraged and want to sue. A lot of UK people who got their medical information leaked got at least thousands of compensation money.

On the other hand, no system is safe. For all we know people are, right now, at this very moment, hacking this very site, or even XBox Live Arcade. Sony isn't the Pentagon, you know. And not even the Pentagon is safe.

RE: Stay Classy Microsoft. - Azure-Tranquility - 04-29-2011

Sony just happened to piss of the wrong people.

Anonymous' power truly is something... I wonder if we'll still have hackers even in the 2020's. :p

RE: Stay Classy Microsoft. - Cobalt Blue - 04-29-2011

i wouldn't be surprised if microsoft actually hacked sony.

I'm sorry but what the hell are you going on about?

I doubt sony was expecting to get hacked so I honestly fail to see why they are solely the ones pissing off people. they're probably just as pissed as every other gamer is.

HAHAHA WE'RE ANONYMOUS NEVAR FORGET XDDDD

fuck

anonymous didn't even have shit to do with this, they're just claiming they did to look like internet bullies so people will take them seriously
even if they were even partially responsible, the worst /they/ could have done is MAYBE crash the servers for a day or two

this bullshit that happened with the info leak happened through a third party company that Sony was working through.
guess what, same bullshit happened with several of the larger federal banks a couple months ago. sony isn't the only fuckup, pay some fucking attention

RE: Stay Classy Microsoft. - DioShiba - 04-29-2011

And now the feds are getting involved.
