Whatever you do, do not, under any circumstances, locate the developers of desmume or their forum, and ask them to make trivial modifications to the program which will make your life much easier.

And, for the love of god, at all costs avoid hunting through the menus for treasures such as "view oam" which would show you the sprites against a blue backdrop for some reason.

looks like you just need a different version of desmume.

@aowidnawodnawod: okay... that narrows it down... is their any way to use the OAM viewer and move the character sprites? I need walking sprites for ice sword kirby.

@Arkinea: tried no$zoomer, didn't disable layers. the white background is pretty useless with ripping ice sword kirby

Sure, you can rip the graphics with Tile Molester. But there are problems, which make it an endless pain. Let me describe the process:
1. Unpack the rom with DSlazy.
2. Open the unpacked "Data"-folder, then go to the "Kirby"-subfolder
3. The sprites are in the files "sword_ice_cmn.cga" and "sword_icRolleyesxt.cga"
4. Open one of them in Tilemolester, using the codec "4bpp linear, reverse order"
5. Decrease the width, skip bytes etc. until it looks right

Now you'll see that Kirby, his hat and the ice-sword are all separated. I have no idea, how to import the DS-Palette into Tile Molester, but apart from that, you will have to assemble Ice-Sword Kirby for each frame (i.e. placing hat and sword pixel perfect on the main body).
As Gors already said, you better capture the sprites in an area with different colors. The volcano-levels look appropriate.

Okay, so pallette wise, I'm not getting any results with Tile molester, but I'm getting better results with GGD, tiledGGD not so much. anybody know how to use GGD?
