the back of his head seems flat and the colors are so uhh nonsaturated that it hurts the readability a lot but other than that the lone art and animations are hella solid dude : -)

yes we get it you love anime you don't need to defend it in every single joke that somebody makes

I'm simply pointing out the fact that the hair should move.

RE: it has been a while since i posted sprites here - triptych - 04-29-2010

right because jake himself didn't do that already
and then two other posters in this thread after that
but then you were like "hey the hairs not moving"*doesnt read thread*

It doesn't matter. Move along.

These sprites look great, Jake- I'm really digging the shooting animation. Keep it up.

RE: it has been a while since i posted sprites here - Cobalt Blue - 04-29-2010

my hair never waves around when i walk, even when i got plenty of it. you know why? because if the hair moves is just to exagerate and make more noticeable the walk cycle's steps. same thing why the head moves left and right.

if it moves or not its fucking optional and has nothing to do with reality. NOW move on,

RE: it has been a while since i posted sprites here - Nystre - 04-29-2010

Metaru is right-- head swaying/hair movement is actually unrealistic. Our head is typically kept very still while walking due to our vision being focused on something in particular. The only time our hair might move is if we were running, and if we wanted our head to sway involuntarily we would have to be running very very ferociously. Even then, it's hardly possible to run fast enough that you'd actually lose control of your head, even if you were running in a panic you'd still be intensely focused on where you're going.

That said, in animation, it is not incorrect to make the head sway as such. It can add a lot of character to an animation. I tried to do so here and didn't exactly do a spectacular job, if the critical response I've been getting from various places is to be trusted. The movement of the hair was not made obvious enough, so I will mess around with it more.

The only thing that's bothering me is how stiff the legs are
but Metaru already mentioned that and you've already noted it so yeah

other than that, they're pretty cool sprites~

I read the thread, though I was pointing out that the explanation for why it doesn't does not hold up.

ANYWAY MOVING ON FROM HAIR.

RE: it has been a while since i posted sprites here - Nystre - 04-29-2010

jesus fucking christ kid

it was a god damn joke I wasn't making fun of your animes, I even like anime myself

My "explanation" was a joke fuckin' hell

this is why everyone hates anime fans

RE: it has been a while since i posted sprites here - Cobalt Blue - 04-29-2010

actually this needs more hair to be more 'nystre'

RE: it has been a while since i posted sprites here - Nystre - 04-29-2010

I actually forgot that Ravan always had a little hair fluff thing on the back of his head, which was added years ago because Chad made the exact same comment about the back of his head being flat. Lmfao
