RE: Pokemon Pink - Woppet* - 04-13-2010

It brings a tear of happiness to my eye to see that this is still going.
it's has the potential to be one of the best pokemon yellow hacks ever made.

:')

RE: Pokemon Pink - Hoeloe - 04-13-2010

That's probably why it's still alive. I tried making a basic hack of Yellow using some hacking tools, since I'm a total noob to hex-editing. It didn't turn out all too well. I managed to get you to start with a Jigglypuff, and had to force it to know Pound at level 1, or it's impossible to beat the Rival at the start (since Jiggly only knows Sing at level 5), I also managed to change the Rival's Pokemon to Meowth. That's pretty much as far as I got, it was pretty screwy by then.

Someone does need to make this as a hack though.

RE: Pokemon Pink - Gameboy - 04-18-2010

Been awhile since I've been in here:

Totally redid the whole sprite. Obvious WIP is obvious, though.

RE: Pokemon Pink - Hoeloe - 04-19-2010

Looking much cleaner. Looks great.

RE: Pokemon Pink - X Gamer 66 - 04-20-2010

Pinsir's looking great GB! Keep it up.

@ Holoe: Yeah I agree, looks better but something's odd about the thumb and elbow. Also, I finally got around to trying a Moltres edit.

I think I'm finished with it. Might move on to another one.

EDIT: I know I didn't make the first one, but I wanted to do Tangela

Took longer than I thought to do the vines. X_x

I'll see what I can do about fixing that. I like the Moltres, looks great.

EDEDIT:

I tried. Thumb is longer this time, though not defined totally, which causes readability problems. The elbow, however, is more defined, and I added some shading on the arm.

I like the Pinsir very much, and the Tangela is good. IMO the black around his eyes seems a little square, maybe make it less of an even shape?

Pinsir looks sweet. Just our right elbow looks a bit.. wonky? it's hard to describe. Tangela is perfect.

@Hoeloe: Hm, still looks odd. The length/thickness of the arm is more natural but like you said, it's hard to tell its a hand holding a Pokeball.

RE: Pokemon Pink - Hoeloe - 04-26-2010

I'll have another shot at fixing it. I think I know what's wrong.

EDIT: I realised that the angle was wrong for showing that much of the Pokeball, so I all but removed it. I'm still a little unsure, being tentative here.

I did make a mockup for the lulz though. Sorry the colours are so screwed up.

RE: Pokemon Pink - X Gamer 66 - 04-27-2010

Lolyeah, now the arm looks ok but you wouldn't be able to tell she was holding a pokeball if you weren't a Pokemon fan.

List updated, I did Alakazam as well

Fortunately, neither can you with the original R/B/Y back sprite.

Looks great.

Also: Tentative Seadra.

It also appears that Eevee and Vaporeon are facing the wrong way on the sheet. Thought I'd point that out.

fair enough, hehe.

Seadra looks really fat, the body needs to be smaller and the tail bigger. And the face seems pretty off. Seadra's snout is longer and thinner; his top facial fins are smaller, but overlap the head more; your stomach is too smooth; and the "wings" are off, the middle spike is normally the biggest one.

Eevee and Vaporeon's positions are correct. But both of them need work anyway.

I wasn't really confident with that Seadra anyway. I'll probably redo it at some point.

Thing thing that made me wonder about Eevee and Vaporeon is that I flipped the sheet round to see how the sprites would look in a battle situation, and both of them still appeared to be looking to the right; away from the battle scenario.

Oddly enough those are close to the (embarrassingly poor) early concept I showed to XG almost three years ago, way before I ever posted the original sprite. I think back then I was drawing inspiration from the Blues Brothers sort of jazz-suit as to keep with the music theme of Jigglypuff without making the character look overly saccharine, while mixing in bits of Green/Leaf and Red, since the character was supposed to be his sister. Shame it didn't seem friendly to Yellow's palettes.

Amazing to see this still going on and progressing so well. Good job guys.

The right version is the Pink ones. Pinsir is unchanged, but Tangela's eyes are more suited to "look" at the player
