RE: Fantasy Smash Project 2.0 - Black Boo - 07-28-2009

I just wanted to make a base for her.

I can send you my worksheet if you want.

EDIT: I'll just post it.

Should I make Onox too? Or are we going overboard with the Zelda? Then again, I don't see any other suggestions from anyone.

BB, that looks much better.

RE: Fantasy Smash Project 2.0 - Kriven - 07-28-2009

Here's a very early WIP sprite (Only posting it now because I can only get to a working computer once or twice a week for a few hours, this is what I could do in that time.) I know her clamshell is just an outline, and her hands are not there, plus the palette sucks. Does anyone mind if I yoink their palette, I'm not good with making them?

Anyways, this here is Aqualea, a character from Wario's Woods. I'm making her as an assist trophy. Basically she'll just do her little victory dance while the Wario's Woods pieces rain down and hurt people.

Looking at it now, I think I've got some facial restructuring to do before I start animating her.

Also, IMO, Onox would be cool Wink

Yeah, it needs work. Her tail is pillow-shaded, for one thing. You need some hue-shifting on her hair, and the shine needs fixing as well. The fact that you don't have any shading (rather, you have lighting and an outline) on the hair gives it a pillow-shaded feel to it, as well. Her arms aren't shaded consistently and they both are shaped weirdly. Her upper torso is lacking depth, as well.
The most important problem I see is the lineart. The way you have it, no amount of shading can un-flatten things like the bottom half of her tail and her hair.

RE: Fantasy Smash Project 2.0 - Chaoxys - 07-28-2009

I'm thinking I might make Amaterasu (the main character from Okami) as an Assist Trophy. When she appears the screen will freeze and one of the Celestial Brush Techniques from the game will be drawn.

Cherry Bomb- Bomb symbols will be drawn after which they will fall down as soon as the screen unfreezes.
Powerslash- Draws random slashes across the screen, hurting anyone under them when the screen unfreezes.
Whirlwind- The person who summoned Ammy is surrounded by a whirlwind that protects them from most projectiles and it hurts anyone who touches it.
Fireburst- Draws an infinity sign that bursts into flames for a little while.
Veil of Mist- Freezes time for all but the person who summoned her.
Thunder Bolt- Drops a few lighting bolts.
Cresent- The whole screen is covered in darkness (pretty much the dud of the pick since it makes it hard for anyone to see whats going on).

Basically, she'd act as a more useful version of Tingle.

They're both working on it together.

I only see three little things. Her arm should get thinner at her wrist so it looks more like an arm. Her coloring, specifically her hair, might work better with the style with a saturation-boost, but I think that one's up for debate. Something about the colors seem off to me, though...
Match the timing of her left knee bend with the one you set for her right knee bend (you only have the left knee band in one frame, whereas the right knee bends more fittingly in three frames, which looks weird), and I think it looks good!

Man I love animating.

And I love watching the animations.

Awesome stuff Estian

RE: Fantasy Smash Project 2.0 - Kitsu - 07-29-2009

Whoa. That looks really great, Omegakyogre. It is a bit odd to see him move so much without moving his legs one bit, but everything else about that is awesome.

@Black Boo, aside from what Omegakyogre said, some hair movement could also make it look a little better. Also, at that angle, you'd probably be able to see at least a little of her other arm as well.
