From what I've read, you meet the pokemon in dream mode, after which you will find it when you step in any tall grass (based on what I've read anyways.) But I don't believe you battle while in dream mode.
What I was saying was that there would be like... 3 or 4 battle themes and different types or whatever would be put into the different catagories. For example, Psychic, Ghost, Dark, ext, would go into one catagory. That or it would be based more on the pokemon itself. For example, Magikarp would have a basic battle theme as heard in the videos, where as Gyarados would have a more pumped up one that would be used with other pokemon such as Steelix and Salamence.
Granted, I know the chances of this type of system is slim, but with what we've seen so far, I wouldn't rule it out. They seem to be going above and beyond anything I would have expected so far.

Huh, it seems we may be getting a new legendary tonight. I hope it doesn't end up being that pointy red eared guy because I want him on my team but I usually don't have legendaries on my team.

Also, I haven't said it yet, but I love all the information and videos released so far- this game is definitely shaping up to look like one of the best Pokemon games yet.
