my two completely impossible fantasy outcomes are as follows

1. Mr. Needlemouse and Sonic are the only ones left, Mr. Needlemouse turns out to be classic Sonic, and the two work together to KICK SOME EGGASS.
2. Shadow and Big are the only ones left, Shadow becomes more smug and egotistical like he was in Sonic Adventure 2 with Big as his laid-back, doesn't-really-care-but-will-keep-following-you-for-no-noticeable-reason sidekick.

It can't be Big or froggy...

Whoa... could it be? SA2 like game with ONLY Sonic and Shadow?

Sonic = Day
Shadow = Night?

The next two to be gone is obviously Sonic and Shadow. This is a game about Big and Froggy where it's OVER 20 LEVELS OF FISHING FROM SA1

mighty is essentially just a fusion of sonic and knuckles

he's slower than sonic but faster than knuckles
he's stronger than sonic but weaker than knuckles

so he's fast and can break rocks
edit- and he can walljump

perhaps Mighty could... oh jeez, rolling into a ball is something any sonic char can do lol

As we all know the Sonic fanbase is divided. There's the classic Sonic fans and the new Sonic fans.

As far as I know classic Sonic fans want is a good speedy platformer without new characters and gimmicks. New Sonic fans want to see their favorite characters do cool stuff. I don't think they're picky.

Well there's a simple solution: DLC

Make a classic based Sonic game that only stars Sonic (maybe Tails and Knuckles too)
Classic Sonic fans are happy.

Have there a DLC where you can play though the game as those different characters such as Shadow, Rouge, Blinky, Uncle Fester, etc.
New Sonic fans are happy.

I think you can please everyone that way maybe...
