[x]We're back! After a failure of the drives in our database server, all data has been restored from last night's backup. The last 24 hours or so of submissions will likely need to be re-made but everything else should be okay. Please let me now if you notice anything not working as it should though. Thanks! -Petie

I'm rusty
#16
I imagine most people capable enough to build robot armies but dumb enough to give them weapons and let them out of hand is pretty stupid.

Hey! I really like that robot! Big Grin

I've made a couple of palette edits:

The main issue with conveying something like rust is contrast, may this be in value or in hue. I don't know if you used any rust references, but I followed some photos I took of rusty surfaces to do these.
I'll make a pixel cluster edit later. I hope this helps!

Also, is that Count Orlok?

It really helps! I'm not really used to portraying rust, so advice is great.

And, yes it is.

Cluster edit of the robot:

I tried to avoid single pixel clusters in this edit.

Edit:
Refined what you started with Orlok:

What's interesting in your version is that the face isn't very detailed, yet you still captured the expression.

Generally, I think you can be a lot more precise when laying down pixels, or... you can actually continue down this blurry/out of focus look you've got going!
I'm looking forward to more Genki ^_^

A mix between the styles?

I think I'll try to refine the robot soon, maybe make a walk cycle.

I'd change the shading and/or the pointyness of the bottom of the jacket, because now they're kind of reading as big poofy thighs

A suggestion for the coat and the palette.
