Awesome game from what I saw on youtube, but when I try to run it, it slows this PC to an almost dead stop, and when the game does start, it's slow as hell. I may never be able to play this game unless I get a better PC, but I really would like to play it someday.

yeah, that's our biggest flaw, the game is huge and Game Maker isn't the most resource-friendly tool Sad

we've been running various tests, it looks like the minimum requirements to run it at full speed are a 2 GHz processor and 1.5 GB on RAM; video cards could help too, and keeping the computer well ventilated and without dust
I see. Well, I have 1.25 of Free GB if that's what you mean, but I don't know jack about GHz. How do I check that?

I need Genesis sprites ripped for this Homebrew project. If interested in helping me out, please hit me up on the PM. Cool

Ok, I checked it. it seems I have 3.33 GHz and 368 MB of Ram.

Would freeing space increase the Ram?

do you have an empty thumb drive?

You can tell your computer to use the thumb drive for RAM storage :F

Yeah.. you need more RAM, the hardware cards are cheap I'd buy one.

Also, more updates, I finished the Quake 1 level, named "Palace of Dark Delight". Here are some screenshots and a video (the video was recorded before I made the level prettier though Sad )

Code:
Palace of Dark Delight is a level for the Demons' Realm based on the FPS game Quake 1.
It features enemies from there like Fiends, Scraggs, Hell Knights, Vores, etc., it also has various mazes connected with portals like in the original game, and more important, lots of guns: Shot Gun, Nail Gun, Lightning Gun, Grenade Launcher, Rocket Launcher, Rail Gun, they're all around the level to help you deal with the monsters and clear obstacles.

More updates, a couple levels that use Pokemon will be ready soon, well, one of them is.

Neo Tokyo by Lars Luron: based on SEGA's Pulseman, with crossover enemies from Pokemon such as Magnemite and Porygon, and Mega Man Battle Network cyberspace areas too.

Actually; that level was really coherent - good choice of crossover bits and theme.

Maybe look into the Wanderswan Battle Network game and the Cyberspace-themed zones from the Sonic Advance games for tilesets on the internet parts. The stuff your using presently doesn't look so hot.
Specs 'n' Headphones has been revamped! Check it, yo.

New level:

Blue Mountains by Gladiacloud with some of my help, it's a Rayman level with Pokemon enemies in it, the Pokemon current sprites were made by a spriter from here, JoshR691. Geodude's might get resized or edited a little later though. Thanks a lot anyway.

You guys just seem to constantly be adding content! Do you think the project will ever get finished at this rate? I mean, are you still coming up with more levels, or do you have a full list of the ones you want?

Yeah, currently there must be around 120 levels made, with around 15 more being made like right now, and there's a total of around 200 I think. More could be scrapped though.

What I like the most about this project is the attention to detail. Using the latest posted video as an example, things like how Onix and Geodude actually use their cries when they are beaten, and the golem thing from Illusion of Gaia actually has its laser sound effect. Also how these aforementioned enemies, while they are different styles from the majority of the stage, still somehow FIT. Their colors are similar to elements of the stage or other enemies, creating a theme. It blends together nicely in that way while maintaining the feel that these elements were intentionally mixed as they were without blending them into a style, which I like in this case.

Also, I haven't downloaded any of the recent versions. Did you guys ever employ that thing that would supposedly cut down on the resources the game requires from your computer while running it?
Thanked by:
#59
Yeah we did, the game only uses like 12-20 MB of ram instead of 300-400, there are less problems now when you try to open other programs at the same time.

The game itself doesn't hurt your computer anymore because of that, but it still runs slow on older computers. We're trying to optimize the coding of many objects every day though. GM8 isn't the best tool, alas.

And thanks for the comment Smile

I have to say, when this gets released, I'm sure it'll quickly become a sensation almost on the level of Super Mario Crossover. Maybe not quite as large, but I applaud you guys for just getting this SHEER AMOUNT OF CONTENT finished.

Also, I voted you guys for indie of the year on IndieDB Cute
