Great rip but is that a black background I see? (Guessing it was intentional knowing Phantasy Star)

Have you tried using Meka to rip the sprites since I did read on SDB that you needed a bit of help and since I have ripped plently of Master System/Game Gear games in my time (sometimes ROM, sometimes from that). It has a tile viewer and also a layer remover as well and is more upto date than what you were using or what Daisy suggested (Kega Lazarus is ancient).

I used vSNES to rip the foreground appropriately, so no black BG problems. It may seem a bit odd though. The final room did not have the Gear Background for some reason.
