Games that are just an exact replica of life with the strict rules of the sports they're based on are usually pretty boring imo. I think adding an extra element to a game (Tony Hawks series points for tricks, and SSX's racing etc) is necessary to make the video game fun.

you can trade players to different teams in the fifa games iirc.

I even enjoyed Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour.
