(it would completely save sonic if u ask me)

i, too, find the best part of the sonic adventure games were the parts where you didn't actually play sonic adventure
Stepping in.

I don't think this discussion has spent enough time praising Sonic Battle. Even ignoring the relatively well-written plot and dialog for a Sonic game, the gameplay itself was genuinely fun and really could've gone places had the 'Team given it the credit it deserved. That battle system brought me back to play it multiple times.
And, the Chao Garden was the only thing that gave SA2:B replayability, in my opinion, simply because the gameplay that was otherwise pretty good was killed by the terrible camera-work. But that Chao Garden was great. I was very disappointed in the lack of any other Gardens in recent Sonic games.
Leaving with: Sonic Unleashed was pretty fun (referring to Wii version), but I have no real incentive to go back and play it again.

Stepping out.
imo the sonic levels in unleashed were the best 3d sonic has ever been, though I've never played sa2. Sa1 just felt less smooth and slower paced.

Unleashed was decent, but I'd love to see more surreal levels like the older games. SA2 was good although when I say its good I'm referring to Sonic and Shadow's levels and the Chao World. Treasure hunting levels were improved from SA1, but I don't really think they belonged in a Sonic game. I won't even mention the shooter levels.

The only problem with the Sonic and Shadow's levels was that they felt a bit linear at times, because they were generally less open and usually didn't have any alternate paths. The levels were all on a much larger scale than SA1 though which made the gameplay more fun and it helped that the engine was smoothed out a lot. Sonic just plain handled better than in SA1.
Sonic battle felt repetitive and somewhat boring to me.

Sonic Unleashed (the 360 version, at least) was on track with the sonic levels, providing multiple routes and ways around obstacles
however, the constant switching from 3d to 2.5d sort of ruins the experience.

I do like the "boost button" think that gives him insane speed and the music fading effect that comes with it
the only problem though is that it makes things harder to see/distinguish
they need to make enemies/hazards more distinguishable from the environment
No boost button please. Spin Dash is the answer.
Actually the boost button was actually pretty awesome, though to be honest you could use it so often you don't have to do jack shit for one level, morally saying, this takes away the challenge.

Would like it if it was only to be used once you got the boost gauge at full level, that way it won't seem too repetitive after a bit
diogalesu has it spot on.
You shouldn't be able to use it forever at a time, so that way you actually HAVE to do some platforming :p
I remember when SA1&2 had those power ups you could find

Imo I'd like to see those return as long as there more character specific rather having them be the same thing for each character on that side like in SA2.

Not sure if everyone else is up for that though =|
Hey, Sonic Team, get some new fans, these ones are too picky.

shadow was... bad, yet decent at the same time
there were some parts I enjoyed, but overall it was awful

I think that if sega hadn't rshed it it could have been pretty good

same with sonic heroes aside from the "me enjoying it" part
it plain sucked, but it had a great concept that if sega had really worked on it, it could have been a great game
I still wish they would do Chao Gardens again. Heck I'd be willing to tolerate Sonic 06 if it had one.
once I got into it with SAdvance2 and SA2B linked up, chao raising got really fun

Make the system a lot bigger (also with DS to Wii linking and portability please) and it'll be great
Did anyone enjoy Sonic Shuffle or was that just me because it was SONIC party instead of Mario Party?
Honestly if we need an excuse to bring back Chao Gardens or Chao's in general Sonic Shuffle tantalizes the palette.
Bring back the dream cast
