What do people normally use to create custom sprites and how exactly do you create them?

I can´t see the point of this question, but, whatever.

My favorite program is GraphicsGale, wich is free. But you can always use paintbrush , wich i´m being oblidged to use right now.

BTW: I think there is a FAQ somewhere...
