My only real issue so far is that there are no indicators to show how well you're hidden, though there are indicators for an enemy's alertness- meaning that the only way to really know if you've fucked up hiding is after the fact. This isn't the game-breaker it sounds like, though (the first level of alertness is the usual "What was that?" deal), the combat keeps you on your toes and keeps a nice balance between being able to defend yourself if found and potentially getting run through, the powers I've seen so far fit the stealthy, multifaceted style insofar as they're more tools than weapons, and let's face it- summoning a swarm of rats to devour someone, corpse and all, is bitchin.'
Still chugging at my own pace through Wind Waker.

I also demolished everything up through Forest of Illusion in SMW last night, so I guess I might as well finish the rest of that later :p

I do want to get myself Wind Waker at some point, though. When I was younger I foolishly traded it in because "lolfuckzeldawithcartoonygraphicsthatain'tmyhardasszeldanosiriaintnobaby."

I've regretted literally every second since.

Little Inferno Beta. Oh my god this game. It's just... beyond what I expected. I was expecting something unique and interesting and fun, but had no idea it would be this fun.

I'm trying to play it while picking out anything that looks like it should be fixed but I'm just so immersed in burning stuff that I sometimes feel like I should be analyzing it more carefully. Also it's kind of hard to say "yup that's a bug" because I'm sure that a lot of things I notice are intended. It's just that since I'm playing the beta, I intentionally look for bugs sometimes.

It really is.


Though it's because of the imprecise jumping over gaps, overly-priced items right at the start and having to backtrack the entire dungeon if you were unlucky enough to face against an Eggplaint Wizard.

It's a good game though, I've enjoyed it despite all this.

It's a good game though, I've enjoyed it despite all this.
That's spot on. I barely managed to finish the first level (never mind the first world) because you have to be very, very careful to get the jump just right and avoid getting hit by enemies. It would be easier using save states as the levels tend to be quite long, but I don't want to.

I'm in the mood for an old-school RPG, anything up to the PSX era, but I'm having a hard time finding one
that I haven't played that was any good. Anyone have any "overlooked gems" that I might have missed over
the years? Bear in mind that I only read English, so non-translated games would be a bit of a problem for
me, seeing as how RPG's are sort of text-heavy, don't you know. Smile

I don't know any specific titles, but I've heard tell of some good RPGs on the Sega GameGear.
Sylvan Tale for Game Gear is possibly the best GG game.

The Golden Sun titles on the GBA have the honor of being the only JRPG titles I could ever stand, if that tells you anything. Morrowind is a nice way to go (it came out in 2000 for PC, I think?), or if you like creepy Ultima Underworld-y stuff, try the King's Field series, though that one is decidedly love-it-or-hate-it.

But as a person who generally hates JRPG's with a burning passion, that's about as helpful as I can be here.

Fuck, that reminds me, I still need to try Vagrant Story.
I enjoy old RPGs because they are pretty much a book and calculator combined. I get to read a story, and to break up the
reading bits, there is the simple pleasure of grinding your characters levels until they are way stronger than the next area
boss. I can agree that RPGs in general are a major time-suck, and most people would rather play a lot of other games in
the time it requires to beat one RPG, but I play them the same way people play a casual puzzle game. I pick it up for a
few minutes, do a little bit in it, and move on to something else.

As for Vagrant Story.. I really didn't care for it myself. The story pacing and dialogue are pretty good, so are the graphics
(for it's time of course), but the gameplay is just wonky. The actual battle system is kind of overly-complicated, so you tend
to get bogged down, and the difficulty curve from fight to fight teeter-totters constantly. It does have an interesting weapons
crafting system though, and like I said the story is pretty good, so I'd still recommended a playthrough, If you can find a cheap
enough copy.
