I would have made it bob with the truck but for some reason objects on the truck's bed never seem to bob either. Weird.
thats because, in game, it would mess the sprites's animation over them.
yeah, I suggest addinge the bob on the turret, too. Think of it as a single sprite.

I understand what you mean...this'll be a bit difficult to explain...

When I originally set out to put that turret on it, I wanted it to seem like it was hitching a ride on the Landseek, not bolted onto it. Think of how other vehicles often are carried on the Landseek, and then imagine that turret was one of them. As such you can't really call it a custom sprite or even an edit, because it's more or less programming, not actual spriting. Since the Landseek's bed is stationary (As Francisco pointed out, it would screw with the programming and make it so that things 'fell' every other frame instead of just moving downward), I chose to leave it that way.

...Well, until now.

...I'm sure they could program it in somehow, after all, they did so with the Ptole truck, so...?

And here's one of those bigass 'secret' medals from Giga Wing you get when you shoot the orange orbs after shooting the blue orb after shooting the red orbs. If that made sense at all.

In other news, whose idea was it to incorporate pixel aspect ratios into the CPS2? There must have been some kind of legitimate reason behind it, but it just seems stupid to have anything other than square pixels. Can't they just make it a 304x224px monitor like the NeoGeo?

...And I've incorporated it into some of my other stuff because.

(There would be no point in making this a .PNG, because wonky pixel aspect ratios already screwed up the graphics anyway.)

(I could've sworn I found a 'fairy of fire' as an item, and there's likely one of ice somewhere, but if I only ripped that and none of the other items, that'd just be wrong.)

Also, I feel like I'm going to conquer the world today (After the dentist, okay), so I'm actually going to try ripping from Raiden Fighters! Wish me luck, because I'm going to need it. Ouch!

I see. This happens on some N64 games, too. Nothing major, I think.

Also, the cannon-truck looks way better now. Sometimes, it's good to break off the game-perfect accuracy.

It really is? Ouch!

As for pixel aspect ratios, I'm not sure what I should include them in and what I shouldn't. What do you folks think? The next sprite I'm posting doesn't have them, but the one after that does...and so do the previous ones...yeah...

...Well, anyway, if you were wondering whatever happened all this time, this is it (warning LONG IMAGE LIST).

It may not look like much, but believe me, getting all this was not easy at all. The last twenty or so items must be unlocked through nearly impossible tasks like using level-8 elemental bursts while having four bombs, or using an elemental burst with an empty bomb gauge, or in one notable instance, you have to get all of the lower-level items of the type before doing an elemental burst attack. There's even one where you have to do a level-1 elemental burst, and memorizing it is, as can be guessed, a pain.

As such, I admit I did not get all these items in one run. I got all the secret items with Karte, grabbed pretty much everything I could with Miyamoto and Grimlen, and then nabbed anything I missed in the previous three runs with Solo-Bang. I raged. And raged. And raged.

Also I ripped the items themselves from the tiles, but anyone can do that shit.

I also changed this animation around a little.

And that's all I did. Which sucks.
that dungeons and dragons game is a fucking beast among beat 'em ups. really.

...What?

This is...DIMAHOO!

Anyway, not much of an update, but I randomly fell in love with Karte (Don't worry, I still love Eri just as much), played the shit out of Battle Bakraid and Battle Garegga, signed up to SHMUPS!, posted like crazy, then got grounded for staying up too late. You can't expect me to have made that much when I'm so busy doing everything else.

[Image: gargoylefighter.gif] [Image: newslam.gif] [Image: superhortenbros.gif]

I updated these. Boring, I know.

[Image: gareggainspired.gif] [Image: stingrayfighter.gif]

Hey look! Phase two ship select!

[Image: gareggaairship.gif] [Image: bakraidairship.gif]

And stuff from Battle Bakraid and Battle Garegga.

Minor avatar edit for SHMUPS!, because Rumi is fine too. Now that I think about it, I should probably replace it with something more shmuppy, and given signatures can't be animated ("What are all these PMs doing here? Oh, a signature warning? Oops..."), I should probably make the next one not animated, but meh.

And I've ripped bits of that big red mothership from DDP, though it's incomplete. And believe me! I'm not totally hopeless in ripping from Raiden Fighters...seriously!
you should focus that love for shmups to rip DodonPachi
[Image: customflyingfortress.gif]

RF1-style flying fortress with RF2-style large turrets. I know this is barely new, but it bugged the hell out of me that I couldn't rip the RFJ one again, so I just re-turreted this. Besides, the RFJ one is tan likely because it's reflecting the red sunset...or something...

Look guys! I found a sixth level in Metal Slug advance! Do I get anything?

Someone remarked that this is the "ugliest aircraft carrier they had ever seen". But it's also a shipyard, destroyer port, battleship, landing ship, dry dock, submarine pen, and pretty much every other kind of ship there is plus some that aren't. Also, you know a ship is big when destroyers are docking to it like a port!

I did what Francisco said, but in all honesty this was...not worth the effort it took to rip. I am sorry, but games without savestate or tile-ripping support are pure pain to rip from.

Edit: Nearly forgot this one.

Take a Devastator, add two more contraprops, then replace those fifty-cals with dual armor-piercing vulcans, and you get Annihilator, which is probably pure hell for the enemy and too cheap to actually make it into a Raiden Fighters game. But then again, I could bolt four vulcans to an Eraser. What the hell would you do with that kind of firepower, hmm?

I kind of got annoyed that all the jet- and rocket-powered aircraft in Raiden Fighters had piston-engined Slaves, so I decided to bolt a turbojet to this Judge Spear's little buddy and this is what I got. I hope it looks at least somewhat less ridiculous next to a spacefaring superfighter. I'm imagining that this isn't the end of my ripping from this game, but we all know what I imagine and what happens are two very different things.

Also, in the middle of replacing all my signatures and avatars, already started on SHMUPS! again and MSDB. Hopefully I'll actually finish this time, but no guarantees.

And I might actually post the Dimahoo items after all, along with some Metal Slug text tiles...seriously!

exactly why i hinted this at you. you see, no one on TSR has ripped dodonpachi because is hard. and you're the only one i could ever think that would be able to complete such task.
maybe, when the emulators start supporting savestates...

also off-topic, but are you okay there, Metaru? I saw the news some days ago, and I got kind of worried.

Ah, so it was worth it after all...because no one else seems to rip shit from it! I get it...thanks, I guess. I should check up on other peoples' progress more often.

What happen!!

Oh and lookie here. I actually followed through with the whole Seibu ripping thing. Apparently the whole process of tile-ripping from Raiden Fighters is actually super-easy if you have time. And I have plenty of it.

Well, this is a drastic change; taking 'distance shots' of enemy aircraft, recoloring them to imply otherwise, and then flipping them to make player craft! And furthermore, I think this sprite here (Or rather, the original version of it) is totally unused!

And here's the original enemy, unchanged from the tile viewer. Pretty snazzy-looking night-fighter.

And a somewhat large (Yeah, trust me, there's way bigger shit than this) tank destroyer with two guns mounted in the superstructure.

And a medium-sized gunboat. Medium is actually an overstatement, probably, because we also contend with battleships that would make the Yamato cower in sheer fear.

Funny little fact: Enemies with similar colors are actually using the same palette! This makes recoloring incredibly easy, because as seen here, every vehicle sprite is compatible with the same palette file. Thus we have a Level 1 enemy in power-up drop colors. Question though, would it still drop the medal?

Also, it's worth noting that the enemy aircraft all have sprites of themselves in the background (Or at least the bombers do). Many of these sprites are unused, like that of the one above. They're probably details on stages like Level 30 and 35, where you're flying really damn high over the ground.

Oh, and the er, other stuff I was saying I'd do? Um, the Dimahoo items seem to have the wrong palette (Oh boy!), so I've gotta go through them again. The Metal Slug text is likely useless unless I post it in sheet form, too, so meh.

And someone requested I rip all the Raiden Fighters player aircraft. Where do I start from, dammit?!
Never played arcade games in my life, so... I can't suggest anything :o

about Metaru, a huge earthquake hit Chile, so I was worried about him. Turns out he's alive and kickin' c:
[Image: fireblade.gif] [Image: sortanightfighterish.gif] [Image: cantilevertail.gif]

I think my editing skillz are pretty darn good too, don't you?
I don't know, I've never seen the originals to begin with

but those sprites DO look official. Good job c:
