By the way, this was not the first place I found the Dragon Slayer 3 (Romancia) code to play as the princess, but at least this link you don't need to run the link through the internet archives.

You may need to run through a translator though.

And don't forget. I also submitted the characters from Lord Monarch (SNES version).
Cool as! Nice one Big Grin
OK. MSX2 version of the Worzens.

This should be it for this week unless I somehow do something quick by Saturday (well... Sayo-chan [Pocky before she was Pocky] from Kiki Kaikai MSX-2 version doesn't have too many sprites, too bad Kiki Kaikai seems to hate YY-CHR*... Tongue So will have to get them the old fashioned way. Heh, maybe I'll get the arcade version's too.

Out of curiosity, anyone know if its possible to view sprites for PC Engine/Turbo Grafx games in anything (YY, TM, that G-something something one, or something else)?

* Then again, maybe I'm missing some simple space saving trick while viewing [you know, have half a sprite that gets flipped, single part that gets duplicated, anything like that {I mean, I can find the character sprites (now I'm rambling again....)}]
Nice!! Big Grin

I was thinking of ripping the arcade version of Kiki Kaikai myself. See if I can have a go if I can, if not then I can link you up a tile ripping version of MAME so you don't have to screenshot the tile viewer at the right size.

As for PC Engine games, I had no luck since they have like sprite layers sorta similar to some Amiga and Atari ST games or compressed. I had to do them the old capturing way (for Jackie Chan, I had to abandon Impossimole due to black background and that I'm rubbish at the game). Like you, I'm looking for a easier solution myself.

Anyway great rips and keep up the great work.
I have tried as well, but no luck with any PC engine game so far.
I don't know if it's the weird format used by the HuCards or the ancient CD format, but not even fiddling with the different codes from Tile Molester or the other YY software have worked at all.

Don't worry about MAME (you can do it if you want), I have version 96 and they also have the old versions (any that isn't the newest version) last I checked on the main site.
OK. So PC Engine will have to be done the old fashioned way then, hopefully there isn't too many background elements that are really sprites. And until then, I'll be doing the MSX2 version the hard way because (making a backup to mess with) editing the main character's tiles into a solid block [one of the three layers of the 1-bit plane], and there is absolutely no pattern to how the colors work. So just using my own system of using both tiles and screenshots to figure it out (tiles so I know how big the sprite is, screens so I know what parts are being hidden by background if any (like the road and Sayo's skin, a pit and her hair for another, and there is usually a light blue for shading of her head band and of course water is...).

OK. Thank you Yawackhary and Maneko for the answer to my question.
OK. The MSX2 Kiki Kaikai Sayo-chan sheet is pretty much done. The rom says I'm missing two sets of animations (and after playing both the arcade and PC-Engine versions, [names gotten from ending of arcade version {damn kyubi only being vulnerable when its running and standing still most of the time}] death by being wrapped by Nyoro Nyoro, and death by being tackled by Hino Ji) and purposely running into those enemies gave me the standard death animation of spinning a few times before falling down.

And thanks to how the colors for Sayo are drawn, I can't color in those two sets of animation and add at the end of my sheet.

MSX2, Kiki Kaikai (might also be Kiki Kai Kai), if anyone can get me snapshots or save states before both enemies, I will give credit unless asked to not. Until then, here's my complete sheet unless someone figures out how to get those two animations (because as far as I'm concerned, I'm done [as of this writing, still need to get the cards and the stick thing that I don't remember the official name of]) let me know and I can either do them myself or you can get a save state of before then.

And on one final note before submitting. A lot of the bosses returned in both SNES sequels. One of them even returned as a playable character and helper.

Here's the sheet.

So again. All the ones I was able to get from playing the game and looking at the tiles. Too bad there wasn't an easy way to get the unused(?) sprites, any way I know how. Well. If in the future I can find a way to get the last two animations, I'll credit whoever helps unless they ask otherwise. And until I quit (worse case I can resubmit an update), I shall check one last thing.
Looks like Pocky and Rocky. Well, minus Rocky.
That's because it is. This was the original game (well port of it) and Pocky and Rocky was the sequel. And actually, Rocky is the final boss of the arcade game (stuck on the kitsune boss [when stationary is immune to your attacks, and spends a lot of time just standing around]), actually, a lot of the bosses from this game return in the SNES sequels.
Sweet! Nice work!
A random one. The characters from Palamedes for the arcade. Might also get them from the NES port. And thinking about maybe obsoleting the Galaga sheet in the arcade section. More on that last one maybe later. Otherwise I can maybe do a nothing sheet of the level shields. Its too early in the morning here.

Remembered MS Paint has the whole "transparent background" thing and was able to do this one quicker by moving a picture of the tiles of one palette (with the outline in yellow or something) over a solid color to replace the black background (the purple background I might use a little more often) and again over a black background to replace the yellow used in the outline before getting the picture of the tiles in the game palette over the "wrong colors, correct outlines" picture with black as a transparent color (the palette in the MAME viewer used black twice for transparent and a character color) to quickly get the colors. And if I had remembered that, I could have finished the Sayo-chan sheet in half the time placing all three parts of the 1-bit plane sprites over one another making a solid silhouette of her, and using the transparent part to erase whatever is not part of the sprite from the screenshots of the game.
No icon because I'm mostly submitting this as a replacement for the one already up. If you want, I can make a new icon.
