i played a bit with GIMP. There should be something similar in Photoshop, though, i guess (i don't have no photoshop, it's way too expensice and stuff). In GIMP, you can set some options to have it translating the pen pressure (of your pen tablet) as opacity (and size and stuff).

Photoshop does it automatically.
