Yeah, some of those Pokemon sprites are at least "good enough to be on the site." They're fairly useful. That Gastly one definitely deserves to stay, IMO.
Some of them are decent, but I chose them because we have so many already like it. We have like, 5 Voltob sheets. There's no way in hell we need five, especially when some lack poses, or don't fit into any recogniseable style. So they may as well be truncated.
The Mario section has 12 Bob-omb sheets, are we going to get rid of all of those just because there's so many already like it?
I posted this in the suggestion topic, but do you think we should have a Quality Control Sub Forum? It would be much easier than having to discuss more than one sheet in just one topic.

If there's two or more sheets that depict the exact same thing, and one of them does it much better, then there's no reason at all we need the worse one. We don't really need sheets that lack poses, or are in a style that doesn't fit with anything (of course, extremely well-done sheets and sheets that have several others in the same style are exempt from the last clause).

For example why have:
http://www.spriters-resource.com/custom_...heet/17864

When we already have:
http://www.spriters-resource.com/custom_...heet/17949
Because they still do not look the same - that's kind of the thing with custom sprites, you can have them in a variety of ways.
That would be valid if they weren't trying to achieve the exact same thing; but one does it significantly better.

This is aside from the fact that the only reason that there're so many Bomb-ombs and Voltobs is because they're easier to do. It doesn't seem worth accepting the same thing over and over (albeit represented differently each time), when there are so many other things that aren't represented at all.

Maybe I'm just focusing on necessity of sheets rather than number, and that's what's causing the difference of opinion.
Well I just don't really see why we shouldn't accept a decent sheet... That's kind of nasty, really. Someone could make a fantastic custom sheet, and then someone else comes along and it's still an amazing sheet, but they don't get their sheet accepted... It's just not right.
in that case you surely can apply common sense and recognize the quality of both sheets, and discard those who are inferior.
But why bother? They're still both USABLE - the site isn't a gallery of the best of the best, it's a sprite gallery of sprites for people to use.
If something is of a usable quality, why discard it?

Agree 100%
The point is to have several sheets someone can pick from. Not just one good sheet.

Quite true, but what of those sprites that are not usable? I mean, will anybody use this? There are no matching sheets for this, even the size is completely off for anybody to work with. I noticed that some of the fangames people post get bitched at because the "style isn't consistent". I agree with the usability part, but some things just are not usable, even the best of the best.
Well then why host any custom sheets?
The sheets in a specific style can be used. I mean look at Omega's sheets; he has a Mario, multiple enemies, and even bosses. They are usable.
That would make well over half the customs ready to be taken down - not happening.
