Full Version: How to rip sprites from the DS/3DS Mario & Lugi games?

When looking at the files for one of the 3DS games, all I see are a bunch of not-so-well-named .dat files. I have no idea which one has the sprites for characters/enemies/NPCs/etc..

Also as an aside, the BMS script (mario_luigi_paper.bms) doesn't really work too well with the .dat files in the Obj folder for some reason. It just produces a bunch of garbage 3-letter file names as well as a _CA_INFO_ file. When looking at the latter in a hex editor, it does seem to have the names, but I dunno how to use it or what tool is required to make use of it. Additionally the format of the garbage name files is unknown, though they seem to be textures?

As for the DS games, I have no idea. There are .dat files as before, and the filenames are quite similar. But the BMS script doesn't work at all in this case. Upon inspection in a hex editor, the format looks to be completely different, and the string "BG4" doesn't appear at the start like the 3DS ones. I can't find a script or program for extracting these.
