Hi,

First an introduction:

I am known in the Ecco the Dolphin community as Arkonviox.
I have reverse engineered both Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco 2, producing a tool capable of ripping nearly all
the assets from both games. I would like to contribute my complete collection of sprites to the Spriters Resource.

I only ask two things, to give me credit for my work as Johnny "Arkonviox" de Alba
and a link to my Ecco the Dolphin website https://eccothedolphin.online

Attached are some samples.

So how did I do it, well basically I had to learn 68000 assembly and Mega Drive development to pull this off.
I created an engine capable of emulating aspects of the Mega Drive VDP, in addition, I had to reverse engineer
the compression algorithms used to compress the level graphics, and level data. The sprites were uncompressed
in a special format used mostly by Novotrade games. I also had to solve the formats for the level data....In order to produce
level maps!

The sprites in Ecco 1 and 2 come in two formats (or flavors)
First there are Global Sprites which can be dynamically loaded and used by any level,
then there are Local Sprites (also known as Stage Sprites) that will only work
on specific levels. The formats for them are different!

Okay I submitted them for review special thanks to Dolphman!
Just wanted to say that you've done a fantastic job with these! I always appreciate users who go the extra mile to make their submissions as accurate and complete as possible. Smile
Thank you, I appreciate you guys being proactive and helping me perfect these sheets. It not only helped me make them more accurate but made them more friendly to people who will want to use them in the future. The sprites aren't complete but by the end of the weekend they'll be complete or at least near there.
