I've got a few questions about the bots that sometimes appear on TSR, or on any other forum. What do they do? Are they dangerous? Can't you get rid of them? Why? This will surely be answered quickly. I hope.
The bots here that actually legitmately ID themselves as bots are just crawlers or search engine bots. They're here to log stuff on the tSR boards for their search engines.
Bastards. And you can't stop that?
...
What?

Is this serious?
Why would you want to stop it?

If it's a joke, kudos; I chuckled.

Dude, they are only a problem if they make a post. All they seem to do is update their respective search engines.

That's why. I don't know how concerned you feel, but that's not on. That means they can collect what they (the bots, their masters lol) want from us here. Some people have left quite a few personal details here.
But then I'm paranoid so ignore me. I don't even use Google without a proxy, you know.
Anyone who leaves important personal information on an internet forum that they don't already want the world to know about, quite frankly, deserves whatever they get.

Just make sure your own self is taken care of, and let ensue the lulz.
What personal information does the forum have of you...?
All that you give it.
Yeah, well we've got to protect (inform) the people (mainly 11-13 year olds) who don't realise that.
If someone is under 13 they shouldn't be on internet forums without having their parents registering their account for them, it's a legal thing ya' know. But basically the Search Bots help us a lot, tSR generates a lot of hits through internet search engines, as it does through people linking through to us from other places.
