Full Version: Sheet Being Rejected for Being a JPEG, But Is Exported As PNG?

Hello all! I'm having a bit of a problem with submitting a recent spritesheet (see below). A little while ago, the sheet was accepted, then taken down without notice. Then, I tried to resubmit it today, and it was rejected for being in JPEG format. However, the file was exported as a PNG from Photoshop CS6 and clearly has a PNG file extension.

What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance!
I was thinking that it got saved as a low compressed JPG rather than a PNG but the credit tag/descriptions is fine and doesn't suffer from those issues. Something must have gone wrong early in the ripping phase...

Looking into the sheet itself, it does have JPG artifacts but only by the sprites. The sprite is suppose to be 16 colours or less I'm guessing but counting the colours and it comes to 925. 925 is way too much (don't know what system but guessing GBA or SNES) and the background is all dotty instead of one colour.

Sad as it seems but the sheet would have to be re-ripped all over again... It might be fixable though since the colour values seem to be like 1-5 in terms of difference.

(Note: I do not use Photoshop so I don't know if there were any settings that you actually had while ripping the sheet)
Yep, I was investigating further after I posted this thread and realized what had happened. It's most likely due to the screenshot technique I used to rip the sprite. However, I find the artifacting and color variation very strange, as Windows natively saves all screenshots as .PNG's if I'm not mistaken.
Also, the game is Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans for the DS.  Wink
Do you have an advice regarding hard-ripping that would help minimize such occurrences in the future?
If youre hard-ripping, check out the little program i made to take screenshots and remove the background. ( the background removing part works only if the background doesnt change)

Can do daemoth, thank you very much!
