The Sonic the Fighters models on this site are ripped very poorly. Using screenshots of textures, the models being slightly tilted, and not having any bones. From what I can tell, these were ripped from 2010-2012. That's at least 4 years of incorrectly ripped models!

I've been searching far and wide around the Internet for anything at all for rips of Sega Model 2 games, I found Sonic Cult, which seemed to have ripped a model of Sonic's lovestrucken head!

I'm very intrigued about this as this seems to be a clear rip of it. Or it could be some screenshot and model swapping thing. I'm not alone saying I wanted to rip the models either, several other people wanted to do it too around here, some even on Sonic Retro I believe.

My main focus right now though right now is Honey the Cat from Sonic the Fighters, just to make sure I can rip something. I might think it's impossible though, as every method of ripping her seems of to failed one way or another.

Please note, these results are from the arcade version of Sonic the Fighters, one of two ports in the game to have her model data.

3D Ripper DX:

Pros:
  • Not flat like the others.
Cons:
  • Back-culling. Oh boy, does it really show.
  • Skewed based on perspective of the camera.
Ninja Ripper:

Pros:
  • Straight compared to the other rips.
  • Seemed to rip the entire model.
Cons:
  • Completely flat!
  • Missing faces.
  • Again, skewed based on perspective of the camera...
3DVIA PrintScreen:
Crashes computer.

Intel GPA:
See Ninja Ripper.

GameAssassin:
Does nothing.

Any information at all about ripping Sega Model 2 games, various rippers I haven't tried, anything would be appreciated to contribute ripping Honey and eventually, more than just her!
Bump? I found some important info thanks to the glory of Sonic Retro.
Quote:
  • The Model2B emulator uses it's own engine to render the models, and directx to render textures
  • This is why model rippers only get flat models
  • Character meshes have colors assigned to them, which then overlay onto textures

I'd appreciate anything, anything at all that will help.
wondering this too, I really want to rip the hornet from daytona usa.
