Unfortunately the best I could recommend is looking up the episode list and watching each one online. Sick

And that's probably because they're just now breaking what they call season 3... They might once the series is finished.
We already have the Steven Universe season 1 boxset out now here in Australia. What's going on over there? I feel bad for you Americans.
Doesn't Cartoon Network want customer's money or something? Ugh, This is one of the reasons I'm heavily against digital only releases.
Simpsons fans, including myself, were beyond angry when Fox announced they stopped the Season DVDs for reasons that make no sense.
Even right now, fans seem to be too lazy to demand Fox to continue them. Still sells better than Seth Macfarlane's horde of crap.

I had to torrent DVD rips of Garfield & Friends because they only released volume one here and never the rest. No explanations why either.
Yeah, I'm a big Garfield collector, and that series was a childhood favorite of mine. Though I prefer the comic version of U.S. Acres, honestly.

I checked our CN distributer, Madman Entertainment, and we're finally getting Captain Planet on DVD. Although I never really cared for it.
Yeah, back when the 90s was all about environment awareness and anti-drug campaigns. Including that one-time only crossover TV special.

Are they even legally allowed to put this on DVD, or is it too much paperwork to renew every license for each character?
Kinda funny how Michelangelo is included in this, as he seems like the only Turtle who would do drugs.
Geordie Shore. I'm a bad person.
Borderline off-topic, here, but this is why I question business logic.

Supposedly these companies/studios/etc... want our money, and yet they continue to do stuff that makes us want less to give it to them, or even, totally unable. Some even do stuff that is completely illegal, or at least, extremely unethical or immoral.

They are so greedy, and yet they choose to do stuff that costs them much money when it fall apart, or skip the opportunities to make that money altogether.

Another thing, is a lot of them were started by taking huge risks. Yet, they now choose to follow a double standard of avoiding the risks that might actually increase their profits, yet they take the ones that make them look bad in the public eye, or end with the government hard on their ass for breaking the law.

Now, while this probably *should* be in the anime thread, I don't recall seeing a rule saying "NO ANIME AND SIMILAR STUFF HERE!"

So, as to give this SOME relevance: Dimension W, even though damn...SO FREAKING DARK...

and, oh...some others...

Due to babysitting, I also have been watching a lot of children's shows/channels, including Disney Junior. I suppose some of the Disney ones are alright, a few I can't take completely seriously. I'm still very annoyed how Disney degraded the main Disney channel, though. After Disney switches to the sitcoms and stuff, we change the channel to Sprout. Some of the shows I actually like from or available on these channels, and in no particular order:
Berestein Bears, Miles from Tomorrowland, Maya the Bee.

And oh, I've not actually seen it in a while, but I LOVE Cyberchase.
I actually miss a lot of the older PBS Kids shows, though.
Anyone remember George Shrinks, Sagwa , or Between the Lions? (honestly, THIS list could go for ages... I could do the same To Nick,CN/AS,Disney,"syfy",etc...)
Dolphman, I agree with you about Seth McFarlane's stuff being crap. I can't find much to laugh at in his shows.

I have all of the Garfield & Friends dvd sets, but I have yet to actually view them start to finish yet. ^^;

One dvd set I'm waiting for is the '90's Spider-Man animated series. I hear it's been released in Europe, but, over here in the US, we only get select episodes on dvd. If they ever release it, it'd go perfectly with my X-Men animated series volumes.

EDIT: Wait... Maya the Bee is still around? I remember seeing the old series when I was a kid! Oh, and I also remember Between the Lions, but I never caught a full episode... just bits and pieces.
PBS always had some of the best kids shows out there! Sagwa, Between the Lions, Liberty's Kids, Cyberchase, they were always on after school and were such a convenience for someone like me who had no friends to hang out with c:
I had friends at the time, but only time I saw them was at school.
(05-14-2016, 09:01 PM)Dolphman Wrote: [ -> ]So the new Powerpuff Girls has disappointed, or should i say, pissed off pretty much everyone. Like jumping a shark more than once kind of bad.
From what I've seen, it has a lot of animation mistakes that are just as bad as the 1987 TMNT series, complete with wrong voice errors.
And if you ask me, it was doomed already from when it was revealed they replaced the original voice actresses who, were very pissed over it.

There's not a lot of action, and the fighting suffers from being toned down, including white flashes on the screen. Yeah, that's pretty lame.
Now it relies too much on slice-of-life (Like we really need to know what they do besides saving Townsville) and random humor, the bad kind.
Another problem is the fact they have being using memes for cheap humor, ala Family guy. One with Bubbles actually turning into a rage face, the wrong one at that, while saying "NO ME GUSTA!" They even twerked in one scene too. Yeah, underage characters twerking.
People are even irked by the art style because it's not the retro thick outline look that gave the original charm. It now features that bland art style we've been seeing lately as the background characters look like they belong in another cartoon.

One episode stirred plenty of controversy because it used a very poorly done moral about transgender issues involving a pony wanting to be a unicorn. I have a cousin who's both autistic and transgender (formally a girl, now a boy) and I know he would react negatively over this episode.
There's a lot of jokes that really flew passed the censors' heads. They freaking use the unicorn's horn as a metaphor for a penis!

The last straw came when we learned Ms. Bellum was removed for stupid reasons. Some reckon the writers think she's too sexy for the show.
I know they won't bring back HIM for the sole reason he looked and acted like a camp gay character and was a stand-in for Satan.

All of this probably wouldn't have happen if Craig McCracken came back, but he confirmed on Twitter he's still on contract with Disney.
So this is pretty much what his situation at Disney is right now:
And even worse is that there's going to be a crossover with Teen Titans Go. Which is already hated by everyone.

I'll just stick with Adventure Time, Regular Show, Steven Universe and We Bare Bears. That's a new low for Cartoon Network.

Couldn't help but pass by this.

Honestly this is pretty much my exact thoughts about the new Powerpuff Girls in a nutshell, and this is only judging from what I've seen in clips.

See what made the original great was that it wasn't trying to be completely self-aware or preachy about feminism. It was there but it never tried to demonize anything that involved LGBT issues or masculinity. *coughlumberjackvillaincough*
Even looking at the new design for Ms. Keane doesn't even have boobs. Like what are the animation designers literally afraid to add a pair of boobs just because it's sexism all of the sudden to draw them on to a cartoon character? Like that's just about as bad as removing Ms. Bellum all together just because she's apparently 2sexy4kids today.

Pretty sure even the original voice of Bubbles said something on twitter about how terrible the new remake is and that's saying a lot.

Honestly, I'm starting to think that Cartoon Network needs to start scouting for other animators outside of CalArts because I swear most of these people who are trying to remake all these classic shows have no idea what they're doing. I mean it's cool and all that they want to try to remake classic shows but they should at least try to maintain the effort that the original show had if they're going to do it.
Next thing I know is that the animators and the writers are going to make cracks in the show about the criticism everyone is giving them just like Teen Titans Go!'s animators are doing.

I mean fuck even all the reboots that Scooby Doo has been given weren't as horrible as what PPG2016 is trying to do and that's just sad.

ON ANOTHER NOTE: Once I get a degree in animation, I swear that I'm not going to work for Disney. Ever.
Part of the reason why I'm going to say this and keep reminding myself this is because I'm already well aware that they enjoy screwing people over. Pretty sure that was the situation with Alex Hirsch the moment he told Disney that he just wanted to end Gravity Falls on season 2 and frankly, after how the show was treated by Disney it wouldn't surprise me if they ended up delaying Hirch's contract with Disney just for that reason and not even giving him a cent.

It's sad too, Disney can come up with great things and find the talent to do it but if you don't even have a name for yourself good luck trying to see any money out of them because they're notorious for treating people who work for them like garbage, and we all know how possible it is to fight Disney in the courts (Which, is impossible).

Kind of had to speak my mind about that since you brought up how Craig is still in contract with them.

That was not the reason they took out Ms. Bellum. It was because she doesn't fit the current model of the show: being character driven. Bellum really didn't have much going for her in the original compared to others. They took her out because she wouldn't really add anything. And yes, HIM is back in the show and did some body horror to Princess. He's even in the opening.

I like the new PPG. While not as good as the original, it is trying to do something different with the established characters. Making them more than three sisters who save the day. And while that Unicorn episode was terrible at being a message episode, the new series actually had a good episode about the Professor dating someone.

Uhh... pretty sure there's a thing called character development to fix that.

Besides not like Bellum didn't have a role in some episodes in the original like say, the actual episode about feminism when Bellum, Keane, and one other chartacter talked to the girls about what feminism was really about instead of treating men like shit like the villain of that episode was manipulating them into doing.

Or the time Bellum actually helped the girls fight Sedusa (EDIT: Thanks Kriven!) in that one episode.

On another note, glad they bothered to add HIM back in.
Sedusa, because she seduces men into being her slaves.
Alright, seeing as the Scooby-Doo reboots were brought-up, I suppose I shall try to share some of my thoughts on this whole situation overall. I shall choose to overlook the quality of animation, and instead focus on the IMPORTANT elements, like story and character development.

Now, the scooby-doo re-boots, and even the live action movies, still are mostly, if not entirely, in-tune with how the original series was set-up. They generally do not deviate from who the original characters were, or what their whole purpose in life was about. The side characters, the bulk of which are one-offs still generally all have a purpose and a unique personality, etc... The whimsical nature of the original show is also still quite present. Overall, the show, and the movies, are still quite enjoyable.

And then there's Teen Titans Go.
In the original series, Robin was a strong team leader, and everything he did, even if questionable, he did for a damn good reason. In Go, he's completely insecure, weak, clumsy, narcissistic, etc... Beast Boy and Cyborg were considerably more mature and useful in the original series, and in Go, they're usually just total slobs and a bad example for the entire team. Starfire and Raven are the only two of the main cast that are even slightly what the originals were, and they're still far from exact. Also, let's consider in the road trip episode how the entire team treated The Hive... totally uncalled for, and in the original series, this probably would not have happened. Finally, the main storyline and the villians in general. The original series had Slade, then Trigon, and lastly, The Brain and his Brotherhood of Evil. Each one of these main villains was the real deal. Slade was a skilled manipulator, useful both in aqcuring and brainwashing henchmen, but being the bane of the Titan's existence, most especially Robin. He also was a master of escape, and had a strong element of mystery about who or what he really was. Trigon was just a bad dude, he didn't give a shit what Raven wanted. All he wanted was domination. Exactly what to expect from an Intergalactic demon that enslaves worlds for a living. The Brain was a skilled mastermind, and a very real threat to virtually everyone. Each one of his main henchmen also possessed some unique ability that made them powerful villains in their own right. All of the other villians, for example, Mad Mod, Brother Blood, and Mother Mae Eye also were serious business. In go, many of the villians are either pushovers, equally or more clumsy than the Teen Titans, themselves, not very menacing, or even, just don't exist. They're completely off-character other than maybe their powers. There's also layers of complexity missing from some. For example, Terra. In the original series, she was troubled, an outcast, and an ideal candidate for being brainwashed, a fact Slade exploited quite well. Yet, in the end, she proved she is truly a hero, and probably one of the best friends anyone could ever hope for, she sacrificed herself to save everyone, and stop Slade. In Go, she doesn't actually care for anyone but herself, and probably is motivated purely by money. Teen Titans Go is kind of like someone took a beautiful quilt, ripped it apart, removed several of its squares, then ran the rest through a shredder, and stitched these back together in the sloppiest manner possible. Nearly all of the elements that made the original show great, that held its plot together, have been stripped-out, or dumbed-down in Teen Titans Go. All that's really left is some slice of life sitcom, and whatever action is left is either boring or hilariously stupid. It might be funny, but the original show was still infinitely better. To add insult to injury, the animation and art style is also quite degraded from the original, but I would be willing to forgive that if the storyline was actually more in-line with what the original had to offer.

Scooby-doo retains most of the elements that made the original so great, and even improves upon it sometimes. I recently ended-up catching Scooby Doo Wrestlemania on Cartoon Network (about a month or so ago???). I actually enjoyed it, I wanted to see the end, I wanted to know who was the monster, and WHY they wanted to scare people away. Now, I will say nothing about the newest scooby doo series, as I've not watched it yet... but, Scooby doo, unlike the bulk of these other reboots and spin-offs, somehow retains the focus of the original show.

Now, I ended-up typing more than I had planned to... lol
I think part of the reason why Teen Titans Go! is a relatively bad show is because it tries way too hard to be comedic.

And, I get that they want to make it so that it's literally a kid's comedy but... when a comedy tries to be a comedy for the sake of being one it just flat out fails.

The original Teen Titans wasn't even trying to be a comedy given it's genre was more centered around action, but even then the humor played out constantly as a source of comic relief and it showed heavily through the personalities in the original show. (If I remember correctly the original teen titans was far more character driven too.

Only reason why I brought up Scooby Doo was to highlight exact how Dark Grievous put it. At least each scoob reboot doesn't try to be something else from what the original show was and it's a perfect example of what a reboot, no matter which one should be.

Except for the live action ones in which case is only worth looking at again to make memes.

Didn't the TTG folks straight up say that they never watched the original show? That's a bit messed up if that is indeed the case, that's like being a translator and not understanding the language you need to translated.

Recently I've been watching some of the HBO shows; I'm all caught up on Game of Thrones, Veep, and Silicon Valley. I've also been rewatching older GoT episodes a bit since my brother and his girlfriend just started it a couple weeks ago. Their reactions to various events, especially certain weddings, were quite entertaining.
teen titans go can actually be really funny sometimes (based on the episodes I've seen). For me its problem is that its incredibly mean spirited and doesn't respect its characters at all. Like, its willing to drag them through the mud for the sake of a joke. The TTG Titans are objectively horrible, selfish people, which is pretty off-putting for anyone who was a fan of the original show
