I've been out of town since the first of the month so I didn't post up a compo. In the meantime, Joxon was supposed to make this month's compo and post it on the 1st (he PMed me and I gave him permission) but it's not up so I'm going to pull out a compo from my bag of potential compo ideas. The ones I've chosen are generally more based around technical abilities and the act of spriting itself rather than spriting particular subjects, so this one might not be as exciting as others but I think it'll make a decent compo regardless.

This one's kind of on short notice so I'm maybe possibly kind of shamelessly stealing an activity from Pixelation that I found interesting:
Quote:List of colors

This is something I came up with recently while browsing Wikipedia's list of colors. I thought some combinations would make for an interesting palette. Add some challenge factors and you have yourself an activity Smile

This is how it works:
  • Create a palette of 8 colors (no less, no more) by choosing a sequence of eight consecutive colors (no other colors in between!) on Wikipedia's list of colors: A-F, G-M, N-Z
  • Create art with it! You don't get transparency. Besides that, there is no topic or canvas size restriction, but..
  • .. you have to use all eight colors from your palette in your final piece.
  • Of course, feel free to create multiple pieces.
That's it! To clear up possible confusion, here's an example of a valid palette (screenshot from Wikipedia):

Have fun!

Since I'd like to try to keep compos within their respective months, The deadline for entries in this compo will be Friday, July 24th.
Voting will take place from July 25th to July 31st and winners will be announced on August 1st.

(Note to everyone: If you'd like to start your own compo, please feel free to PM me!)
Alright, by having us decide what we could pixel art made it hard for me to decide what to do. Tongue
But these are my two subjects for pixel art-ing :

If you look reeeaaaaaaaalllllllllyyyy closely there's a hint of green in it.
Otherwise, it's black if you look at it not knowing it's green.

It's actually more of a Charleston Turquoise, but yeah I can see some green in it.

It's okay, don't worry about it.
Just don't let it happen again! Tongue
Question, since you can have multiple entries, can you also have multiple palettes?
Sure, but only one palette per entry.
Edit- multiple entries per palette is cool though

^ Very W.I.P In Progress.
It's a work in progress that's in progress.
The progress that is being worked on is in progress.
Understand?  Tongue
A bit of a test using my palette.

Remember: there's no transparency so your background color's gotta be part of your palette!
