Oh, it actually happened in the same tab? Not as a pop-up/under? That definitely changes things (and actually makes it quite a bit worse). Thanks for clarifying.
Malicious but I won $1,000 SweatdropWink))

EDIT: Another when clicking VG-Resource Icon: http://cpmofferconvert.com/out?zoneId=968177

Was this on mobile or desktop and has it continued happening since the above two instances?

Desktop, and very infrequently. Once in awhile
Strange, those types of redirect ads usually only hit mobile devices. Thanks - I'll definitely look into it.
This here is a mobile-only advertisement that automatically sends you to a malicious site.
Thanks for the heads up. We just updated our ad tags so I expect there will be a few issues as things with the new publishers settle in. We'll look into this ASAP.

You're welcome.
Another mobile-exclusive forced-redirect ad.
Hey, so I finally got an answer as to how we deal with these after the code change and it's a lot easier than it was. I'll put this in the intro post as well but can you either fill out the form on https://freestar.io/bad-ads/ or give me the required info (name and email not required) so I can submit the report? Hopefully this system is more efficient at detecting and removing malicious ads than the old way we had to do it.
These ads are once again popping up on the site; they keep changing their domains (as well as hiding under a bunch of redirects) to dodge being blacklisted.
Damn these things are getting annoying. I'll see what I can do. Thanks.
Indeed they have. They’ve been flooding Tvtropes as well and they enjoy messing up and ruining my reading experience on mobile.  Unimpressed
They’ve gotten especially bad this year ever since January and no major effort has been put into stopping them or calling them out to the public aside from the occasional post on tech-themed blogs.
Ads are appearing in the bottom right corner for the Spriters and Models Resources, and they can play audio and generally block out stuff. Can also confirm that it's happening on my computer and phone.

Posting this here because I'm not sure if those types of ads are intentionally supposed to be on the site or not.
