RatchetMario has stated that the tools needed to rip Wii U games are now public, so I felt it would be appropriate to make a thread for Wii U model ripping.

Similar to the general 3DS ripping thread, feel free to post which games you are going to rip from, post your rips, model scripts/programs, etc.

TMR's current selection of Wii U games can be found here.

Known file formats:
  • .BFRES (common model format)
  • .GTX (common texture format)
  • .SARC (package)
  • .NUD (Super Smash Bros. 4 model format)
  • .NUT (Super Smash Bros. 4 texture format)
  • .BNFM (Wii Party U model format, may be used in other games too)
  • .DAT (Platinum Games model format/package)
Is it okay if I can help try to get some models from Super Smash Bros. for Wii U?

1. There isn't even a proper ISO extractor available to the public yet.
2. If it's anything like the 3DS version's models, you're gonna have a hard time figuring things out -- it's not as easy as you think it is.

I see. I'll have to wait until then. Thank you for the advice RTB.
Yup... I know we're all itching to get Smash Wii U models, but at this point in time we have to wait for the experienced people to do their thing.
However, I do see the standard model format being figured out soon, and the Platinum model format I'm assuming will be more-or-less the same as the format they used for Metal Gear Rising, so...
Not exactly a decryption tool is released, just a key that used for dumping a game disks. Then we can go looking files for model/texture and contents.

I heard Mario Kart 8 use .FMDL file for model and texture are .FTEX in .BFRES archive. That's I was looking information for some site Tongue

EDIT : Whoops, Decryption tool has released by Crediar on his Twitter
If anybody looking for Sonic Lost World stuff for Wii U
They stated right here http://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?s...33853&st=0

Pretty much that Lost World use a same format from Generations and Unleashed, because their game uses a same Engine. Tongue
Perhaps, Lost World has upgraded a formats, but their file extension are same as Generations/Unleashed (.model) It's said it all on that site.

The formats are indeed changed around a bit, so tools for Unleashed/Generations wouldn't work.

So, I haven't proper out for the textures and bones YET. Maybe someone should figure out though.
Apparently, Lost World use .dds texture extension, but format is NOT actual .dds, it is Nintendo's gtx texture format.
